Posted July 9, 20241 yr At Georgia in 4 seasons he played 254, 265, 230 & 378 snaps his senior year. In Philadelphia he played 224 his rookie year and last year was on the field for 519 snaps which was only 45% of the total and he died out there. Brian Baldinger had the sharpest public criticism of his play noting he was out of shape, barely moved and had no fight in him. Said he should have been in the press box. I completely agree and I have no doubt management and his agent have called him on the carpet and he publically says he has changed his diet and gotten in better shape. We will see. At 350 pounds I don't see how Davis can play more than 35-40% of the snaps, or about 400-450, IF he is in shape. That means Williams will have to start with Carter. Maybe Davis can be our 3rd DT but if he can only play 350-400 snaps he may be the 4th DT. Tuipuloto is just a guy. Maybe Ojomo will be a player but we can't count on him to be the 3rd DT this year. We sure could use a veteran DT and maybe Howie will trade for one, but if one of these guys gets hurt we are really thin there. If no trade, maybe the free agent Gabe Hall from Baylor ends up in the rotation. Combined with the uncertaities at DE, we could be weak up front without reinforcements. Hopefully Ojomo or Hall can step up.
July 10, 20241 yr I agree that it's hard to view his ceiling as being more than just a solid player at this point. We were all thrilled with the just-draft-Georgia's defense approach in the moment. But it's starting to feel like flawed experiment. Nakobe hasn't gotten on the field. Nolan was quiet last year... We'll see.

Assuming under Fangio that we keep some of the hybrid defensive line sets, he will likely come out when we are in a version of the 4-3. If you look around the NFL you won't find a lot of NTs that play much more than between 500 and 600 snaps per season. Hargrave , when he was NT for the Steelers, didn't break 500 snaps until his 4th season. The trick is obviously playing effectively during each snap. There's nothing wrong with 519 snaps from Davis as long as he's playing with energy.
