Right or wrong, the coach is a representative of the owner during official team functions. He should take that into consideration before making any kind of political/social stand. I could be incorrect and his wearing of that flag could be 'protected' by some law for which he couldn't be fired. If so, I'd definitely be interested in reading about it. We would need to see Saleh's employment contract. Coaches are fired all the time, and when they are fired, the remainder of the contract usually gets paid out absent an Urban Meyer type of situation.

And could his replacement now ALSO be fired as HC, making the Jets the first team in anyone's memory to fire the Head Coach TWICE in the same season?

November 5, 2024Nov 5 Antonio Pierce keeps his job, but I don’t think that makes the Raiders any better.

November 17, 2024Nov 17 Author Might today be Doug's final game as Jags coach? So far they're down 28-3
November 17, 2024Nov 17 Now down 42-6. They are playing one of the best teams in the NFL though. But yeah, Doug will not be back next season for the Jags. The probably only have two more wins on their remaining schedule. And he has not made their young QB any better.
November 19, 2024Nov 19 Holy crap usually you get like 6-9 coaches. This year is going to be insane. Thinking about division by division: NFC East: 1. Dallas Cowboys- Mike McCarthy 100% gone 2. NY Giants- Brian Daboll- 90% chance he is gone. Eagles and Skins coaches are safe. NFC North: 1. Chicago Bears- Matt Eberflus very likely gone. I say 80% Vikings, Lions, and Packers coaches are safe. NFC South: 1. New Orleans Saints- Dennis Allen- Fired. Interm coach is 2-0. Will he get the job? 2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Todd Bowles. I say 40% of getting fired. Loses are accumulating. 3. Carolina Panthers- I don't even know the guy's name. I saw low chance. Like 10% Falcons coach safe. NFC West: 1. San Francisco 49ers- Mike Shannahan is gone if they miss the playoffs. 50% chance of being fired. Seahawks, Rams, and Cardinals coaches are safe. What a shocker. We thought Gannon was 2 years tops. AFC East: 1. New York Jets- Rob Saleh fired. That interm coach is crap. Definite opening. 2. Miami Dolphins- Mike McDaniel. Low chance of being fired. Maybe 15% Patriots and Bills coaches are safe. AFC North: 1. Cleveland Browns- Kevin Stafanski 40% chance of being fired. 2. Cinnicinatti Bengals- Zach Taylor 50% chance of being fired. Steelers and Ravens coaches are safe. AFC South: 1. Jacksonville Jaguars- Doug Pederson 100% getting fired. Texans, Titans, and Colts coaches are safe. AFC West: 1. Los Vegas Raiders- Antonio Pierce. 80% chance of getting fired. Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos coaches are fired. This is a potential of 13 coaches being fired.
November 20, 2024Nov 20 I don't see Shanahan being fired unless the 49ers completely unravel and finish say 6-11. They have had a ton of injuries and I can't see them doing that. Bucs also have had a ton of injuries, including to their two top WRs. Bowles probably safe unless they totally collapse. Jets just fired Joe Douglas and it appears owner Woody Johnson will hire the new HC and GM before he leaves on another Ambassadorship in the Trump Organization (with his brother Chris taking over control of the team). Assuming Mike McCarthy leaves the Cowboys (his contract is expiring and it would simply be not renewing), I suspect he winds up with the Jets either as HC or GM and possibly both. Agree on Jacksonville. Doug is gone but maybe he would also be a candidate for the Jets job depending on who the new Jets GM is. Jags are a mess where it may not entirely be his fault. Not sure on the rest.
November 29, 2024Nov 29 The axe will continue to fall. And there are still like 6 weeks left in the season? All the 'fired' Coaches may be fired before the end of the season. Which would render 'Black Monday' as useless fodder. LOL

Maybe they want Mike Vrabel, who played for Belichek but did not coach under him to take over?

He follows up a legend and there's no way to fill those shoes, and the next coach is the one that really turns the page and begins another era. O'Brien followed Paterno and set things up for Franklin.
January 5Jan 5 Author Who's next, Daboll? Doug? In all likelihood, both. Will McCarthy be back in Dallass? Possibly, but I don't think it's probable.
January 6Jan 6 Meyo was a surprise, I don't understand the logic in firing a guy after a season when you're clearly rebuilding. It has to be a really toxic situation like the Meyer one to make that sort of a move

Part of me feels bad for Daboll, being stuck with Daniel Jones and them letting Barkley walk meant they were never going to be good. It feels like they never fully committed to rebuilding even though that's exactly the stage they're at. If Doug gets fired it's his own fault for hitching his wagon to someone like Press Taylor. The majority of those losses were close, other than the Bills and Lions game they were a chance in the majority of games this year. Lawrence looked like trash for chunks of the season and I'm thinking that's who he is as a QB. McCarthy shouldn't get a pass because they were awful before Dak went down. It would be a miracle if he kept his job

But not enough to not make fun of them. Just in the sense that we've been there before, so I know how miserable times like this can be for a fan.
