What happens if the Mavericks win instead, and Luka Doncic can't play for the US? What happens if the Nuggets win, and Jokic is their star player? There has to be a way to tie the All Star Game into Olympic qualifying or team-building. Those players roster spot gets filled by a free agent. If you need a center because the Nuggets won and Jokic isnt playing for US then you take Bam, AD, or Embiid. Or whoever else is up and coming. Banchero (if he will play for US), or Duren, Sengun (if he will play for US)... If its the Mavs, then you take some other great guard instead of Doncic. If you keep those teams together, and just have to add 1 or 2 pieces, and keep their coaching staff, its much more continuity for team USA. Most of those players will already have been playing together, and theyll already know the coach's system. There are plenty of all star free agent options to add to any NBA finals team who would need to fill an international player spot or 2. It can easily be accommodated.

You can't take off Jokic and expect that team to be the same with anyone. Even Celtics without Porzingis because the Celtics play five out basketball and he is unique to them. Take out Luka? Luka is so good, he can't be replaced by any American.

Itd likely have winning margins better than team USA just had

I'm just theoretically curious of how competitive they would be. I think Serbia would get obliterated in the NBA playoffs. Jokic plus 3 NBA players, only one of whom is really a bona fide starter (and not an all star caliber either). Team USA nearly lost to that and every player on their roster is headed to the HOF. That's why I have to figure the best team in the NBA should be able to handle team USA.

And the Celtics were notorious horrible in final two minutes. So you are relying on Tatum and his pound the ball for 18 secs then step back 3 attempt or Steph LeBron PnR? Hmmmmm tough choice

So who to rely on at the end is moot.
August 21, 20241 yr I was reading up on the flag football rules, and it looks like it's 5 on 5. Does that mean 5 are back in coverage vs 4 receivers? 15 player rosters, so offensive players won't have to play defense, right? I know that the flag football champion wants to play because his "flag football IQ" is higher than Mahomes's. Good luck to him. It would be like practice where they touch each other, so it shouldn't be hard for any NFL QB to learn.
