There’s actually excitement about the democratic ticket now. It looks like the republicans are going to go with "she’s a DEI hire” attack. It’s not going to go well for them.

100%, the question is whether it lasts or flames out.  Let's check back in mid-Sept after the convention bump dies down.  If it looks good at that point then I would guess she would take over the poll position.

We're at the start of a massive wave and there's only, realistically, three months of campaigning. The timing couldn't be better. By the time the wave will start dying down it'll be November.

Hopefully that is the case.

How long before we start seeing the first Kamala v Trump polls? Another week?

We might get some snap polls in the next couple days with smaller samples, but yeah I'd think some of the main outfits will start reporting results by next Monday. I don't expect much of an immediate change though. Usually takes two weeks for the full impact to be seen, but with everything that has gone down in such a short period of time, it's gonna be tough to decouple this from the RNC bump, from the assaasination attempt, etc. Then there's gonna be the DNC in 3 weeks which should be another bump. I'll be watching closely to see what happens to RFK Jr's numbers though. If he starts to dip down into the 3-4% range by mid-August, she might just have a  damn good chance at pulling this off after all.

Oh, so it wasn't alcohol you dipped into last night. It was acid or shrooms you got really F'ed up on. Damn, maybe take it easy on that stuff next time, dude.

Could be. Or I might have just been internationally hyperbolic with my original post. I figured the last one would have made it obvious.

A lot happens over the months, but then when it comes down to voters actually making the decision they are things they don't care about from months ago. There will be energy from voters who want to make sure Trump never sees the WH again. There will be similar excitement to vote for the first woman president as there was in 2016. Young voters often get hyped up but don't actually vote so that will be interesting to watch. Even some Biden voters have been over it and looking for younger candidates.

I prefer it when people are domestically hyperbolic instead.

Looking forward to hearing her speech:towel:

Harris visits battleground Wisconsin in first rally as Democrats coalesce around her for president

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris is making her first visit to a battleground state Tuesday after locking up enough support from Democratic delegates to win her party's nomination to challenge Republican former President Donald Trump, two days after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid.

As the Democratic Party continues to coalesce around her, Harris is traveling to Milwaukee, where she will hold her first campaign rally since she launched her campaign on Sunday with Biden's endorsement. Harris has raised more than $100 million since Sunday afternoon and has scored the backing of Democratic officials and political groups.

Mark Kelly Mark Kelly Mark Kelly Mark Kelly.  Dude is what VEEP dreams are made of BEFORE you get to the part of his wife's tragedy taking the air out of Trump's ear nick.

Would be a smart choice, but never count on the Democrats to make an intelligent decision.

Dems should do this every Presidential election cycle.  And I'm not kidding.

I only know of Mark Kelly from following his campaign.

What about him makes him attractive as a VP candidate?

I know Shapiro well. He served as attorney general for the state of PA for 6 years before becoming Governor and is popular even among Republicans. He prosecuted pharmaceuticals over the opioid crisis and sex offender rings (including those in the Catholic church).

In 2020 he received more votes for his re-election to AG than Biden did for president.

My only qualm is that as a Jewish man he may hinder support for voters who are very pro-palestine, but I'm warming up to the idea. He is good on camera and would absolutely embarrass JD Vance.

Combat vet, astronaut, could help pick up AZ. Moderating and balancing the ticket is the thought, unlike what Donald DumbF*** did.

Kelly, Shapiro, or Beshear would be good. I like Beshear best because he's the youngest and has been elected twice in a deep red state.

Shapiro's the strongest on camera, which I think is probably the most important.  Beshear probably balances the ticket the best considering his popularity among the white working class.  Kelly has by far the best background/story.  Honestly, none of them are bad choices at all.  I'd prefer Shapiro but I do worry a bit about far left backlash, since, for some insane reason, there's now an anti-semite faction on our team too.

And wife survived a gunshot to the head due to an assassination attempt...

So:

Astronaut

Decorated combat vet

Senator

Stayed with wife after shot in head

Centrist

Vs JD

Called his running mate Hitler

Has spoken in past he believes Trump committed sexual assault

Wants abortion to be illegal federally

Thinks women should stay in abusive marriages

Could go on but ya get it 😁

Hmmm. Kelly is too old. Shapiro is Jewish.

My bet is on the governor of N. Carolina.
