How did it alienate the working class?

Obama focused more on the urban poor than the rural poor.  Big shift from the Clinton era democrat policies.  During Obama's tenure offshoring of jobs was also in full swing.  To be fair, much of that was caused by NAFTA and other bills that were not of his doing, but it happened all the same.

Lastly, his exhaustive focus on racism and his regular counsel from people like Al Sharpton made it clear to working class whites that he was not there to represent them no matter how they voted.

Trump saw these cracks and exploited them.

Are you even a real person? This sounds like a caricature of aggrieved, white, middle-aged "NotTrumpSupporter" posting a social media video from the inside of his truck with shades on.

Just offering an intelligent alternative to your regularly burped up theory that all Trump supporters are race obsessed white nationalists.

I'm genuinely asking. Can you give examples of this "exhaustive" focus on racism. There must be many, many examples for you to describe is as exhaustive.

I remember all those anti-racism classes we all had to take once a week during the Obama years.  Dark days.

race baiter !!!!!

BTW, on this sort of racism/culture war topic, woke sheet actually got much, much more prevalent and much, much worse under Trump than it did under Obama.  And under Biden, I'd argue that it's actually receded a bit as the left at large has reexamined their priorities.  But of course that all goes out the window if Trump were to win.  If you want hard-line woke nonsense to take off, the most surefire way to do it would be re-electing Trump.

Sounds like a lot of white butthurt from having to compete with more than just each other.

Urban poor don't compete with rural poor for jobs.

To be honest, your attitudes about the white working class astound me.  It used to be a cornerstone of the Democratic Party.  Now they are treated like enemies of the state.

Love them or hate them, nothing in this country works without them.

rural working class whites have quite an inflated opinion of themselves then.

so now working-class whites don't live in the cities? just rural areas?

I mean.  They fix your car, transport your food, build your bridges, keep things working in your home, maintain the electrical grid, remove your waste and repair your roads.

Why shouldn't they be frustrated that wealthy elites have ignored them and made their lives harder?

Oh, but they voted for Trump.   So...

Again, what has Obama done to offend these people so much? Win an election?

Their lives have been made harder because wealthy elites ignored them, you say?  And which party do those wealthy elites belong to?    Because they've been voting Republican for decades now and have gotten nothing in return.

odd that you think rural whites do all that.

I don't doubt they are a part of that workforce, but it's certainly not exclusively "rural whites" that perform those tasks.

isn't it sickening how trumpers forget the urban and suburban whites?

I am white working class, my attitude isn’t direct at them, it’s directed at individuals who are butt hurt because companies started hiring minorities.

It's amazing how they just revel in their own ignorance.

  Right.  Rural voters complain constantly about Dems, meanwhile they live 100% under the thumb of Republicans and they somehow can't figure out why nothing ever gets better for them.

The conversation is about the white working class.  Of course others do these things too.

Democrats have done more for the white working class than republicans ever will. Republicans pay them lip service, nothing more. There isn't a single economic policy republicans have passed in the last decade that have benefitted the white working class. Not one.

Obama lowered taxes for the working class

Obamacare was actually good for working class tradesman like plumbers and contractors who work for themselves (people like some of my friends) who were able to get affordable health care

Biden expanded the child tax credit, brought back manufacturing jobs

Trump build half a **** wall that didn't benefit them at all, and lowered taxes for billionaires and corporations, and screwed working people by not allowing them to write off unreimbursed expenses from work.
