In his almost 90 second response he never once said how he would empower working families to afford daycare.

Lower the standards to hire more day care workers? Because A.) anybody can take care of children (except childless women/trans/gays/atheists/immigrants) and B.) More supply always lowers the cost????  I guess?  Hire more unqualified people so wages go lower? I'm lost.

But he also said we have to "empower people to get trained in the skills they need." Doesn't that apply to daycare workers too? Or wait, daycare workers don't need training? I'm lost too.

That's the thing. He has no plan. Maybe grandpa/grandma/aunt/uncle wants to watch the kids. If not, we need daycares. Ok. But he never once said how he'd make it affordable.

Oh he's got a plan all right, deport half the babysitters in America while simultaneously forcing more poor kids to be born.

I know sometimes people see more than there is but with Vance the seething misogyny is constantly bubbling right under the surface. Aunts & Grandmas should pick up more child caring duties, oh you mean the same women enjoying their empty nests need to get in/back in the game? Anybody can take care of kids and work in child care cuz its easy right? Hey its so easy maybe a mom of 4 can work it as a side hustle, no education required.  It's just more onions in the pot know what i mean? Women know damn well what this guy is saying between the lines and its no wonder at all his numbers with them are unfathomably bad.

Somehow JD Vance’s answer to childcare makes more sense than this.

Did they edit out the part where he said "Knibb High Football Rules" or why the F is anyone applauding that answer to that question?

I understand JD Vance's idea considering he was more or less raised by his grandparents.  I kinda more or less had a similar background.  His issue is that he doesn't realize you can't extrapolate his childhood onto the norms now.  Baby boomers could and would shove their kids off to their parents.  (I think a lot of the Greatest and Silent generations found out the hard way that when you spoil your kids you'll have to raise your grandkids, but I digress.) Turns out these days that baby boomers aren't really wanting to do any of the grandparenting duties that their parents did, and even if they did they're still working.  My parents could shove me off on my grandparents because both of my grandmothers were homemakers. Add in the fact that it's a different economic situation with how much of a household income isn't able to be supported by one person, and you have way more kids needing childcare now than were before.

I think given the shifts in how things are from a sociological and economical standpoint, there's a couple of solutions with childcare.  One of them I think is state sponsored pre-school.  Another I think is year round school.  (There's no need anymore to have the summer off to help at the farm, just give the kids two-three weeks off between semesters as their break.  It's a win-win for both sides of the aisle: democrats get to see children being taken care of, and republicans get to see teachers actually have to work year round.)  Also, I think there needs to be some type of financial assistance in terms of daycare for low income parents, and companies should really look into providing some type of childcare benefit if they want to attract/retain talent.

It turns out those rumors are false.
