The Board was really upset with me back then when I said Carson should have sat the entire 2018 behind Nick.

I don't remember that specifically, so I don't know if I saw those comments but I likely would have disagreed. Back then, I wanted Carson to be the starter when he was healthy. That desire was based on his 2017 performance, of course. I believed that he'd be able to regain that and carry it forward.

That's not to say that I wanted Nick gone though. I wanted him to stay, so I was a bit conflicted there lol.

Maybe Carson could have regained his 2017 form, but his bruised ego seemed to get in the way and it seems that the "behind the curtain" goings on weren't what they were portrayed to the public, to be.  So I guess his time in Philly after 2017 was just destined to be what it became.

It's a shame, if he could have regained his 2017 form, I think we'd have been able to make some noise in the playoffs. But hindsight makes me wish we'd stuck with Nick.

Yeah I remember, it was like two sides.   Some of wanted Nick to continue to start while others were like "Well if Carson is healthy then he will pick up from last year".   I had no doubt about Carson's talent my thing is again once you win the Super Bowl all bets are off.  I get that the Eagles had invested so much into Carson but it wouldn't have hurt him to sit behind Nick for a season, he ended up getting taken out anyway in injury.  Again it was a wired situation where the guy you invested in didn't win the Super Bowl.   They choose youth over experience (And Nick wasn't even that Old then). Carson redeemed himself in 2019 so I'll give him that year even though we still lost the Playoff game to Seattle.  It's just sad though because Nick and the Eagles was just a good fit.  He wasn't able to have the same success in his other stops sadly.

With hindsight, I think his ego is so frail that it would have destroyed him, added on top of the way Nick winning LII destroyed him.

Not mine but I do have it framed as well

They tried to sit Carson and everyone panicked at those first two Foles games. He stunk in the game they won and played great the game they lost. Someone should have used their brain and calmed the situation telling Carson to rehab at a level pace. Reassured him he was the guy regardless. Unfortunately the team lost their OC and their QB coach, and the organization catered to everything Wentz wanted. There was so much pressure after winning that Super Bowl that no one was thinking clearly. With that being the case the biggest issue was Carson’s failure to adjust his game, and when they lost Deflip, they had no one in the building who had the guts to criticize him.

I brought the Newspaper and I lost it.  I'm still upset.  I loved this cover so much.   It was so true, they were the Evil Empire and Beli did look like the Emperor, lol.

Surprisingly, I don't recall ever seeing that one or I'd have made big efforts to get it.

I was one of the Foles supporters who wanted him to be the starter over Wentz.  There weren't many of us back then lol.  Once Wentz signed the big deal though, the debate ended.

Anyway, kudos to Foles on a successful career and I hope he enjoys retirement.

They were selling those in the Philly area only ( I think)  at Wawa or you could buy them online at the Philadelphia inquire website framed. I went to my Wawa and they were sold out. Funny enough is that I was actually going to pick up a copy for your buddy downundermike lol

I see that the Inquirer still has them available, but I don't think I want to put $170 into it now.

There's one on eBay for $42, framed.

Over the course of his career, Foles accumulated more playoff wins and Superbowl rings than did the Dallas Cowboys.

I have zero doubt that if Jeffries makes that catch, we repeat.

Dotson should ask permission to use his #. Foles Foles Foles.

Why are they doing Nick's Retirement against the Falcons when we play Doug and the Jags at home this year?  That's the day he should retire.

I just looked it up.  Yep plus it's our first Home Game (Well 2nd, Brazil is a Home Game this year)  Aren't we wearing out Kelly Green on the Doug Game too?  Anyways, I guess mostly because it's Monday night like you said and the first home game.  Also the Falcons were the 1st playoff win on the Super Bowl Run.  Also Nick was starting the next year when we beat the Falcons in the 1st week the year after the Super Bowl Win.  I get it.

He should suit up and run a few plays.

Looks like Lesean Mccoy is getting the Doug/Jags game for his Ring of Honor Ceremony.

It's a shame that the "Shady McCoy is a Bust" thread was on the old EMB and was deleted and wasn't available to archive so that we could enjoy it today.
