Huh.

Alright alright.

Great depth move. There's still only one football to go around.

Did I miss the contract details somewhere??

I don't get it.  Guy was a mid first round pick in 2022 and put up decent numbers, even if not eye popping.  The fifth year option is worth extra trade compensation in and of itself.

Nice

He's certainly WAY better than Reagor and WAY better than Watkins.  That said, he isn't going to be a great receiver but then we don't need another one of those.

I remember him coming on at the end of his rookie year and thinking that Washington had a pretty good receiver.  Then last year it was kind of crickets for him, especially the second half of the season.

What is a little unsettling is that he is at a position of need for Washington, and they know his game the best of anyone since they have seen him every day for 2+ years... and they chose to let a 1st rounder from two years ago go for compensation that when you add it all up is the equivalent of an early 4th round pick.  That is pretty damning -- they don't think he can play.  And his wide receivers coach at Washington (Bobby Engram) was also a Nittany Lion, and clearly did not bang the table to keep him.  Hopefully he is good enough to provide an upgrade, but we'll see.

I have similar concerns. The Commanders let him go for peanuts in the middle of his rookie deal. But they are going through another rebuild. Maybe Dotson doesn't fit the future plans and they'd rather load up on draft picks?

The value of what we gave up is basically equivalent to a 4th (since we are getting a 5th in return).  We have Miami's 3rd in 2025 so we still have 2 day 2 picks.  Wonder if we gave up our 3rd or Miami's?  Hopefully the lesser of the 2.

This confirms we won’t be seeing 2 TEs on the field much.  And baring a (very common) Dallas Goedert injury, we won’t have to see much of our barely roster-able non Goedert TEs at all.

All we need him to be is a better version of Quez Watkins.

Someone who can play the slot and flanker roles in this offense and provide a legit deep threat to keep safeties honest.

This will open up the field for Moore to get creative with Brown and Smith as well as open things up for Goedert and Barkley.

I'm definitely a fan of the move, on paper, but I think a 3rd is a bit of an overpay.

They're giving you a 5th, so I guess it counts more like a 4th? It's also most likely going to be a low 3rd round pick. For a player with 2 more rookie years in his contract? I think it's good value.

I read somewhere it's the better of the two. Still, the Dolphins will be good this year and hopefully the Eagles too, so it's not a high pick.

He's on a rookie contract

OK maybe Reagor level is a bit harsh but He's a first round WR who got under 600 yards in each of his first two years despite being up against Curtis Samuel for WR2, and Washington are willing to let him go for a third and 2 sevenths despite losing Samuel in free agency and only adding Christian McCaffreys brother in the 3rd, our WR3 from last year and Martavis Bryant from the hotbox in his bathroom.

If they think moving on Dotson doesn't affect their shiny new franchise QB's chances what does that, along with watching Dotson play the last two years tell you about this move? He is not a stand out  receiver.

I just don't see the point in giving up a 3rd for a marginal upgrade at 4th receiving option. It's dealing for the sake of dealing, it doesn't move the needle.

This move was made by a Washington front office thqt didn't draft him.  Happens all the time when regimes turn over

Make sense.  They saw no good options in TE group except Gordert after trying with several backups.  Just go with the slot WR in Dotson.  Limiting snaps to Goedert also keep him fresh and healthy.  Other TEs are for blocking mostly.

Strange. Ian Rapoaport saying Dotson was on the bubble to even make the team in Washington.

So we basically traded down 2 rounds and 2 7th rounders for a former first rounder.  Even if he is a bust, as a WR3 with upside you can't hate it.

He was Washington WR2 until this training camp. Love the value of this move. Always liked Dotson as a WR. Good Job Howie.

With AJ and Smithy doing their things..Who will cover Dotson?? A 4.3 WR...who was Washington's #2 until the change in regime. We have WRs!! ?May be the best trio of Eagles WRs ever.

The Eagles are loaded with picks for the next draft.  Howie will find a way to move up and down the draft at will.

Don't look now, but I count at least five former first round picks acquired by the Eagles this past season - including two top five overall:  Saquon and Devin White were both top five overall picks.  Becton, Picket and now Dotson were drafted in the first round as well.

Wonder if they cut Ainias Smith

He needs to go to the PS.  They can't keep 6 WRs

Guess that means bye bye to John Ross but that was likely the case anyway

I think if we keep 5 it's Brown, Smith, Dotson (locks), Wilson, and Johnson (I'd think)

Edit - forgot Covey so maybe Johnson doesn't make it 🤔

Aight big pimpin’!
