I dunno how I feel about this. I've for a long time feel that one of the big reasons Whiteside failed was lateral quickness, shown by his garbage 3-cone. Dotson's is even worse, and he's 3 inches shorter. That said, the other reason Whiteside failed in my opinion is his garbage hands, and Dotson is said to have really good hands. I'll need to familiarize myself with his game, and how the slow 3 cone shows on tape with routes and wiggle, but we'll see.

I remember him coming on at the end of his rookie year and thinking that Washington had a pretty good receiver.  Then last year it was kind of crickets for him, especially the second half of the season.

What is a little unsettling is that he is at a position of need for Washington, and they know his game the best of anyone since they have seen him every day for 2+ years... and they chose to let a 1st rounder from two years ago go for compensation that when you add it all up is the equivalent of an early 4th round pick.  That is pretty damning -- they don't think he can play.  And his wide receivers coach at Washington (Bobby Engram) was also a Nittany Lion, and clearly did not bang the table to keep him.  Hopefully he is good enough to provide an upgrade, but we'll see.

Maybe in practice, Emmanuel Forbes was able to cover him, so they had enough.

He has blazing speed

Campbell can't stay healthy.

Not only does he vastly improve WR3,

Dotson's 4.43 speed isn't better than Parris Campbell's 4.32 nor John Ross' 4.22, 4,43 is pretty much pedestrian for a WR.

The injuries to Campbell and Ross hasn't impaired their performance, moreover, injuries can happen to any player at any time, the only time you want to be concerned with past injuries is if they've permanently impaired the player's physical performance.

Personally I would have stuck with Campbell and Ross over a player that's inferior from my POV, not to mention the risk of destroying the chemistry the team has built.

But no, Mr Egotistical just has to get is name mentioned no matter what, who cares about a 3rd round pick, it's nothing for a player that may not be better that what we have.....right??

I really dislike Roseman.

Can't figure out my reasoning?

Let me get elementary for you, the dumbsheet gave up a 3rd round pick for a player that most likely won't be any better than 2 players already on the roster targeted for the same position.

I makes no sense!!

The dumbsheet should have saved that 3rd for the draft to help refurbish the defense, but no, he needed a fix for his ego addiction.

Let me go kindergarten for you. Eagles needed WR3. Campbell and Ross no good. He gave 3rd rd pick for a guy who has 2 years on contract and is very solid player. Eagles had 2 3rd rd picks next year so they still have one left. Makes sense or little sense?

You dirty liberal sucking migrant f hole. I'm surprised you're not jerking it to the DNC and kamal toe

I see the rich got richer Jahan will fit in well with your eagles he just didn't have what my new regime was looking for...BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE I EXPECT TO STILL BEAT THE HELL OUT OF YOUR EAGLES.....YEAH I'M BACK FOLKS....

This is a highly unusual hot take.  He’s trying to win NOW, he’s not doing this to get his name in the paper.  Come on, now.

Strange. Ian Rapoaport saying Dotson was on the bubble to even make the team in Washington.

Dotson is no stud.  He’s been a disappointment in the nfl and will be overhyped here as an addition because of PSU.

To be honest, parting ways with a 3 (and pocket change for pocket change) is a bit rich for a first round disappointment entering year 3.  That’s why Washington was willing to make the trade to a division rival.  (Just like when we traded them Mcnabb).  They knew they were getting more in draft capital than they’d ever get from him.

Shifty, good quickness, good hands…he probably projects very well in the slot for us.  He’s not a burner (but is not slow), has not been successful in the nfl, has no physicality, and a tiny catch radius.  For a #3, that can project him as one of the better 3’s around.  I don’t think he’s such a stud that it’s particularly noteworthy, but they did just upgrade their offense.

Out of curiosity, what was the new regime looking for that he doesn’t have?

Jahan is talented but he lacks that Dogg mentality my coaching staff is looking for..In other words he is alittle soft...Hope that helps..

To be perfectly fair, the biggest difference between the first 2 years of Dotson’s career and the first 2 years of Reagor’s career is forced usage.  There’s a reason DC was about to release him.

Campbell is pretty good when healthy, but they clearly have no trust there.  Ross is just a flier.  The floor for Dotson is just much, much higher than guys that probably won’t even be able to contribute.

No argument here from me..

Guess that means bye bye to John Ross but that was likely the case anyway

I think if we keep 5 it's Brown, Smith, Dotson (locks), Wilson, and Johnson (I'd think)

Edit - forgot Covey so maybe Johnson doesn't make it 🤔

All of the other guys likely make it to PS

The Eagles are loaded with picks for the next draft.  Howie will find a way to move up and down the draft at will.

Yep.  We have a 1, 2, 3 then 5, 5, 5, 5.

Justin Jefferson ran a 4.43 at the combine. He seems to be doing well with that pedestrian speed.

So after looking at him a little more - I'm actually not from the Philly area, only my family is, and I don't watch CFB - I feel a little better but still mixed. On the plus side, my lord he has some hands. And he had some crazy hands in college too. I like that I don't think getting the ball when he's in position to will be a weakness of his. That indicates to me that his problem probably was more related to getting open, mental (side of the game) issues, or something like that.

I think the trade was a little steep for me, if it was a 4th I would have been more happy with it. But he seems to have some of the basic tools needed to be successful. Just, if the 3-cone related ability is his problem, might need some flexibility work. Being in house with Devonta Smith might be good for him.

You tell someone "Let me get elementary for you..." then curb stomp Howie for "ego addiction?"  Dang.

Indeed, Smith and Brown could help.  Both have incredible work ethic. I think being covered by the 3rd or 4th best CB, and scheming to get him isolated on safeties and LBs will be good for him as well.

He's not great, but he won't have to beat great either.
