Posted August 27, 20241 yr Eagles laying less than a field goal in their season opener in Sao Paulo. I'm not a fan of opening the season almost 5,000 miles away but it is what it is. Line: Eagles -2.5 Total: 48.5 Moneyline: Eagles -155/Packers +130
August 29, 20241 yr I think this line probably shows an ever so slight lean towards GB? Home teams usually get -3 right? So being a home road game changes that a little tiny bit.
August 29, 20241 yr First game in Brazil, the officials will be hoping to keep it close and exciting. Expect plenty of iffy and borderline penalties to stop one team getting a big lead until late. Wouldn´t touch this from a betting perspective, too many variables

There will be no home field advantage for the Eagles in Brazil. It's not like they're flying all the season ticket holders there to pack the stadium.

I do think we might have slightly more fans as I believe it is an easier journey from Philly? But yeah it won’t be a normal home advantage.

I'd probably do PHL - MIA - GRU. Similar for Green Bay, nonstops out of Chicago but one would have to get from Green Bay to Chicago. Any way you slice it, a 12+ hour trip is not trivial to me.

Texas by itself is bigger than France in terms of square miles. And France is the biggest country in Europe. Plus, that doesn't account for Canada and Mexico, which are also massive by European standards. And then most of the South American countries are massive as well.

I was playing around with 'is Sao Paulo north or south of the equator.' I didn't know. The answer is that Sao Paulo is as far south of the equator (27*South) as Miami is north of the equator (also 27*)

Fair enough bud I didn’t realise that. Both fans travel well I think? As in both sets of fans are committed but hopefully we do still have the edge.

The home field advantage is much less than it used to be thanks to advances in travel, nutrition, sleep, hydration, etc., so now it's about 1.7 points. But I think traveling to Brazil is going to be tough on both teams.

I believe we are flying down today? During the day so the players can sleep in their hotel tonight. Hopefully that helps.
September 9, 20241 yr Author If you didn't watch the game and just saw the outright win, the cover and the over, you might be fooled. Atlanta is getting 6.5 in Philly next Monday.
