September 7, 20241 yr I wasn't able to watch any of the game, though I followed the score on my tablet. I did go over to a Giants board to see what they might think of Barkley having a good game. Some were bitter about it, some weren't. I have my FuBo set to record all Eagles games, so I'll watch it later tonight.

September 7, 20241 yr THEY DID IT!!!!!! 4-0 In Season Openers under Hurts/Sirianni. Defense leaves a little more to be desired but they did get some good stops at the right time including a big INT. Offense started off rusty and muggy but then something happen. Sequon exploded and even AJ got in on the party. Devonta also did well. Dallas didn't have a huge day but still caught some crucial catches. Jalen made mistakes and had some questionable throws but that experience being a Starter came through. He never got rattled, and kept going. When he needed to run and get the first down he did it. It was the 1st game of the season that was thousands of miles away from Philly. It wasn't going to be perfect but they got it done. Sequon - 138 Total Yards 3 TD's AJ - 119 Yards TD Devonta - 84 Yards Goedert - 34 Yards Everyone ate good tonight overall. This is going to be one of the most Dangerous Offenses in the league.
September 7, 20241 yr I thought both sides of the ball showed flashes of what this team can do. Now that they got the first game out of the way let's hope we see more flashes and less blunders
September 7, 20241 yr They've got to clean up some execution issues but hopefully that comes with games. There are some aspects of the offense that look very familiar, the overuse of empty backfield stuff in the red zone and the screens were mostly scary bad, to the point where I wonder if Sirianni is influencing the play calls again. One very positive note was we managed to chew clock effectively at the end of a game for once. The defense was pretty solid, apart from that one drive where they ran all over us and that awful bit of coverage from CJGJ, but overall the coverage was night and day better than at any point last year and Baun and Dean do look good at LB, though Dean needs to make sure he hits the ball carrier rather than clipping them on the way past. A word on the officials, they called some awful tickytack stuff especially to extend drives, and judging by Lane's reaction to the illegal formation call, they called him even though he'd checked his alignment pre snap with the line judge. So yeah overall we played a consensus contender (who most of the TV crew thought would see us off) at a neutral venue and beat them, we moved the ball pretty well after the horror of the first two drives, 2 or 3 dumb throws and ropey play calls at key moments, but overall, we got through a tough opener with a win and without getting dinged up. Another positive start.

September 7, 20241 yr Seems like some fans are forgetting this the their first game playing together. No preseason will lead to the mistakes and confusion we saw. Now on to the trap games vs the nfc south.

But this was the same kind of crap we saw from this year (and particularly Jalen) last year and that’s my concern.

They were thousands of miles away from home and had to travel on a 9 hour flight. This is a whole new team with new coaches. Anyone expecting a well oiled machine out the gate was kidding themselves. It seems by the half everything started to click. The Defense is young and still need to work some things out. The Offense just needed to get their footing and then it was off to the races. The mistakes were from them not playing much together like you said the first time. Kellen and Fangio both clearly figuring things out with their new team. .

Sure there were some similarities but that is going to happen when you don’t get to actually work the kinks out in preseason.
September 7, 20241 yr Great win, so psyched! Lots of things to clean up but there were certainly some positives. The unsung hero of this game was Devonta Smith. Damn, my dude is so clutch and so smooth/slippery in space. When he gets the ball around more than one defender, I do find myself saying, "don't hurt him, don't hurt him!". He has proven he can take big hits but he just looks SO slight framed out there compared to everyone else. LFG!!!!!

Catching balls, YAC , big hit then gets straight back up. pound for pound he must be the toughest receiver in the nfl
September 7, 20241 yr Maybe its just homerism, maybe it isn't, but I am not that concerned about the INTs. Let's see how the turnover picture looks on a field that isn't a joke and after now having a real game under their belt to shake off the rust since the starters didn't play in the preseason games. Also I feel like the NFL is just trolling the Eagles at this point, first the SB with that garbage field and now this game. What the hell? Go make someone else play experimental BS, and while you're at it demolish MetLife stadium entirely since we're on the topic of crap fields.

September 7, 20241 yr Gotta stop him now. Should have had four TD’s in his first game. #JalenJustHandItOff.
September 7, 20241 yr That's probably going to the best the Packers play all season. Proud of the Eagles how they hung in there and got it done.
September 7, 20241 yr Negatives: Sloppy play, turn overs, missed tackles, multiple bad snaps, and blown coverages. This looks like a team that doesn't practice very hard in the preseason and doesn't have a lot of discipline, That's to be expected when the head coach is a complete toolbag in way over his head. Oh and the tush push doesn't work without Kelce. QB made some baaaaaad decisions that should not be made by an experienced starter. No excuses for throwing into triple coverage, and throwing against your body into the endzone. Positives: The new OC. This is the most creative play calling I've seen since Pederson left. Moore did a very good job of getting guys in space, scheming them open and spreading the ball around so everyone got involved. Saquon, Saquon, Saquon! Dude is a beast. Has not lost a step. Still the most talented RB in the league IMO. Great signing The young talent, especially on defense is encouraging. I really liked how they were able to get favorable matchups with AJ Brown and get him into space. Devonte Smith keeps getting better. His ability to run after the catch is so fun to watch.

You should be concerned, the first interception was horrible, Smith was double covered and the ball was late, there was no possibility of the pass being completed, moreover, he had Goedert wide open underneath no defender within 15 yards and would have most likely picked up the 1st. While the first interception was horrible, the second interception was doubly horrible, he directs Brown to run left and the defenders ran left also and had Brown triple covered and he still decides to throw across his body into the middle of the endzone while triple covered, moreover, dude should realized that even if we didn't score a TD, a field goal would have put us up by 8 with approx mins remaining. You expect decisions like those two passes to made by a dumbarse, and I've always been of the conviction "if the shoes fits, then put'em on".......Hurts is a dumbarse!!
