Carter got thrown around some vs. Atlanta and he disappears late too. Linemen take time to develop. I get that. I'm just saying the disruptive plays that should be starting to show through with some consistency by now simply are not. There's still time for them if they truly commit to being the best they can for years to come. that commitment is what is expected of them, yet I don't see any real difference in either player from last year at all. Disappointing. In our defense Jordan Davis is primarily a NT and NTs just aren't flashy stat compilers. I expect most fans will be unhappy with his "production" no matter what happens. This is his 3rd season and hopefully he will be more impactful than he was in his 1st two seasons. But Carter still flashes at some point in every game and that's a positive sign. I have no idea why people are acting like maybe he wasn't a good pick after all. Both Carter and Davis see a lot of double teams right now since we haven't established an immediate threat on the outside. We're only two games in and I've seen some pretty blatant holds (not called) by teams trying to contain Carter inside. I have no idea if Jordan Davis will live up to his draft status. I really like him as a person and believe he's intelligent as well as physically gifted. I'll have to wait and see if he has the drive to be a great player or not. Carter, on the other hand ... it's just obvious --- he's going to be special. I know it won't be the case around here, but I wish people would give this defense some time before giving up on everybody.

Needs at least a year in the gym, before making the field. I have no idea what Vic will do for New Orleans game to stop the run. ?!? Cover 2 will not work. We will have to stuff the box and hope that this will somehow slow down New Orleans.
September 21, 20241 yr This is where we find out a lot about Fangio and the players. Last year, NOBODY could help the D. This game is going to tell the story. If the players (except a few) are really that bad, are really that soft, then NO DEFENSIVE coordinator in the entire NFL is going to be able to help- IT'S THE PLAYERS, period. Then what? Then that means Howie has drafted a bunch of losers, most from Georgia, and he wasted too many #1 picks on the D line. THAT means the Eagles season is toast. These players will have to go, and the D will have to start from scratch. THAT is how serious this really is. I want to be a positive guy when it comes to my Eagles, but I fear what I am about to see Sunday. Just like last year, one hopes THIS is the game they get it together. But I think that ship has sailed. They are going to have nowhere to run or hide after this game. PUT UP OR SHUT UP.
September 21, 20241 yr A writer said that Jordan Davis has not been at his locker all year when the locker room has been open to reporters. I can't find the article but it is only a few days old. This bothers me as Jalen Carter has given interviews. Carter is accepting responsibility for his being late and his play. Davis apparently doesn't want to talk about his play.
September 21, 20241 yr In both games the Eagles had slow starts meaning the D had to play extra hard to keep them in the game. By the third quarter when the other team is running the ball down our throats, they are out of gas. Thats another problem with the bend dont break offense. You let them sustain long drives and you are wearing down your defense in the process. What is the solution? I have no idea, i guess its up to the offense to start quick like they did in 2022.

I am curious to see the percentage of first round picks between 11 and 20 that did not meet expectations in recent years. I almost feel like with the way talent is so top loaded these days, if you dont have a sure fire pick after pick 10, its better to just trade out of the first round.
