But if those pressures can lead to misplaced passes or allowing our coverage to do its job then I guess that’s enough. Yeah he’s going to get doubled so much which is a shame because there’s nobody he’s opening up opportunities for. Usually if a DT is getting doubled it opens things up for a DE to go one on one but there’s nobody we can rely on. Why, all of a sudden, can't we rely on Sweat? His sacks were down last season, but he had career highs in hurries and pressures. There were at least two intentional grounding calls made that would have been Sweat sacks last season --- same result for the team as a sack. Graham can still play and he's capable of generating pressure on the outside. Huff is an unknown to many of us, but he has produced as a pass rusher in the NFL. N. Smith and Hunt are the unproven guys at this point. I still think people need to throw out last week simply because of the grass alone. On top of that, Love only held the ball for an average of 2.8 seconds and most sacks take longer than that. There was also an abnormal amount of holding not called last week as the NFL wanted to emphasize illegal formation.

I'm not worried about his knee, anymore than anybody else's. One thing, though, that people never really bring into the conversation about the Eagles' pass rush in 2023 is the overall poor play by the secondary. That played a huge part in the lack of sacks late.

I know he wears a brace, but he's comfortable with it on. I think most linemen should wear the braces for extra protection, but that's just an opinion.

September 17, 20241 yr I'm getting concerned now. Seemingly no pressure from fangio and no players capable of it.
September 17, 20241 yr When the qb trips and falls. Thats about the only way they can even touch the opposing qb.

September 17, 20241 yr Huff has been underwhelming. I think he was the best 'pass rusher' on the market, but he has only had one season with double digit sacks and that was last year with 10. I think he was in a rotation so the expectation was more play time will equal more sacks. He also had the benefit of being on a D with one of the best young corners in the game and some legit line backers. He is 26 and it has only been 2 games, but for a guy that was supposed to come in and impact right away he has been poor. Sweat the should have offloaded in the off-season. He is a 4-3 DE and now he is trying to play on the edge. 2022 is the outlier in his career, he doesn't look like he can be a double digit sack guy and needs to be in a rotation because with the increase in snaps his production went down. They really need Smith to step up and show something in year 2

September 17, 20241 yr Davis was never picked for his pass rushing acumen. The expectation is not for him to have high sack numbers. He is a nose tackle that needs to be a force in the run game and if he can collapse the pocket and help the edge guys out that is a bonus. They were gashed by the run, although a lot of it was away from Davis to the outside. The Falcons were able to expose them on the edge and that is a worry.

Davis hasn’t been much of a factor nor consistent in the run game either though and that’s part of the problem. They traded up for him so he needs to be more than a run stuffer and yet he’s not even that right now.
September 17, 20241 yr Howie's decisions at DL have been poor. Smith can't play and Huff evidently can't play in our scheme for some reason. Sweat will leave in free agency and Graham will retire. That leaves nothing at DE next year. This organization can not assess college DEs at all. I don't trust Howie to be able to rebuild the front 7.

The Falcons killed the Eagles with outside zone runs. He isn't going to look as dominant in the run game when they're running away from him. It just further highlights how bad the guys outside have played
September 17, 20241 yr Where is our run defense coming from? The Falcons controlled the LOS all game and gashed the Eagles. The Packers were averaging about 8 yards a carry too. The pass rush is absolutely a problem, but the run defense looks to be just as big of one.
