October 29, 2024Oct 29 Philadelphia currently has the #1 defense in the NFC heading into week 9. Fangio was a phenomenal hire.

Given how they were gashed against Tampa and had some early season struggles that’s incredible to be the #1 NFC defense. Hopefully that’s because as a team they’ve now settled and understand the scheme better.
October 30, 2024Oct 30 Author I am glad to see the improvement. I was beginning to think the whole Fangio legend was washed. They are playing a LOT better. Good to see.
October 30, 2024Oct 30 They're playing well, especially over the last three weeks, but it's still tough for me to shake my initial distaste for him. He's always been a middle-of-the-road D-coordinator and he's bounced around the league for a reason. His early season gameplan was absolutely dreadful, too, regardless of how impressive they've been more recently. Just have to hope he doesn't revert to extreme bend-but-don't-break/super soft zone coverage the next time he's up against a really good QB and stays aggressive.
October 30, 2024Oct 30 I'm not getting too carried away tbh. Yeah we've improved dramatically which is great to see, but i still have a feeling they will struggle against the likes of washington and dallas.

And Dallas I mean we should beat them but until I see it I just can’t get there. I think ultimately we have a middle of the pack defense and if our offense is a top 5 offense then that should be enough most weeks.
October 31, 2024Oct 31 It´s amazing what Mitchell and DeJean have given this defense. Having those two in the secondary offering quality coverage and tackling opens things up for the defensive line. And that´s without Dean and Baun playing really good football. I´m starting to think those first couple of weeks were a kind of getting to know you phase.
October 31, 2024Oct 31 Like others have said, maybe the D has kinda settled into the system. It may even take few more games. But they have played well for 3 straight weeks. Nice to see that.
October 31, 2024Oct 31 So people are getting excited over this defense looking good against: The Cleveland Browns The New York Giants Cincinnati Bengals This is a low bar. This week's game should also make the Eagles D look competent....then they hit Dallas, an appetizer for the following week's game against Washington, which then takes us to LA against the Rams offense, and for dessert, in Baltimore against the Ravens offense. I'm expecting this team to look closer to the what they looked like against the Buccaneers, the Saints and the Falcons.

Very happy that they are building confidence and scoring Wins. The real test will come when they are in the playoffs .

Atlanta, we gave up 386 yards, they average 371 yards per game. NO, we gave up 219 yards, they average 319 yards per game. TB, we gave up 445 yards, they average 389 yards a game. So before the bye, we were below average in every game but one. After the bye, we gave up 244 yards to the Browns, when they average 270 ypg. The Giants gained 119 yards, when they average 303 ypg. The Bengals gained 280 yards. They average 325 ypg. So we are clearly performing better after underperforming before the bye. This should make you happy.
November 1, 2024Nov 1 Remember when we used to make garbage QBs look like Pro Bowl QBs? Remember when underperforming crap offenses moved the ball against us efficiently? Remember when our DC was replaced in season? It was just last year. This year we are getting a little better each week and our defense has been stringing good games together and people are griping because of the opponent --- as if other teams don't also play the giants, browns or bengals.

November 5, 2024Nov 5 The Eagles defense has obviously been playing really well. One positive is that we have two lottery tickets in Sydney Brown and Jalyx Hunt at arguably our weakest spots on the field right now. If those two guys can turn their elite athleticism into production on the field, this defense will be a juggernaut for the foreseeable future. Look at how young we are. Carter, 23, Davis, 24, Ojomo, 23, Booker, 24, Smith, 23, Hunt, 23, Dean, 23, DeJean, 21, Mitchell, 23, Ringo, 22, Brown, 24, Blankenship, 25. These guys are only going to get better as they get used to the system/playing in the NFL.
November 5, 2024Nov 5 Seeing Ringo and Brown team up on special teams to force a turnover on the very first play against JAX was amazing
November 8, 2024Nov 8 in all fairness we have been playing weaker teams. That being said, I'm glad to see them gelling and dominating. Hopefully they can keep this up down the stretch

November 11, 2024Nov 11 Milton Williams has played well this year. I am glad they kept him. He has the ability to rush the passer from inside. This defense desperately needs a Vinny Curry type of player.

It seems like Hunt is getting more snaps than him.

It also looked like he was running out of a 3 point stance compared to his Babinesque 4 point stance that he prefers. I wonder how much of that has to do with the wrist?

They basically played him during garbage time. I did see him standing up more than his 4 point stance. That’s probably due to the wrist, but for that to be the reason he’s not playing really shows the limitations of the player. At this point in the season everyone is dealing with something and for one of their highest paid players to not be able to get on the field because of his wrist is a bad look for him.

It depends on the severity, he looked pretty good on the forced fumble. Just need to see it more from him
