If he somehow gets within 75 yards, then maybe consider it, but at this point, if we win today, I'd sit guys. Bigger fish to fry.

2,000 yards?  Bench this effin scrub!

He's within 100 of tying it, 101 breaking it. What do you do in this case?

No way should he suit up. I know it’s got to be tempting but sit him and the OL.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the offense play a quarter  or even just a series next week with Jalen just to keep him from coming into the postseason with any rust. At this point, it's prepostseason (assuming we are locked into the #2 seed).

I won't be angry if that's the case. But I'll also understand going for it if that's the decision. It's an all-time, highly coveted record and a bit of a life-time achievement. Not as highly coveted as a Lombardi, of course, and that's the ultimate goal.

My hope would be that the 1 Seed is still alive, and there's no decision to make.

I just said this in the other thread...

The idea of needing a 17th game to break the record doesn't bother me. If I'm not mistaken, the NFL season was once 12 games, so any player who holds a record based on total accumulation has done it in more games than someone else who previously held said record. Do they all get asterisks too?

That said, as tempting as it is, there are bigger fish to fry. This team has played since week 6 non stop. The bye is extremely unlikely right now. As a consolation prize, what if we gave Barkley a chance to set the Super Bowl rushing record? I think he'd like that.

I think there’s a conversation to be had with Saquon and the OL right? For the coaches that is. And look if they decide they want it then okay fine… I just hope they are more locked in to bigger things.

I think Saquon should be consulted, for sure. But ultimately, it's up to the franchise... and by that, I think the conversations should go all the way to Lurie and have the entire chain of command involved. That's assuming that the 1 Seed is no longer possible. If it is possible, we're all in so there's no conversations.

Yeah for sure they need to all be on the same page. For me it comes down to what their expected goals are now.

to those that say the record wouldnt mean the same because he needed a 17th game, what would you say if he did it with less rushes?  Right now he has 36 less rushing attempts than ED, so if he gets 100+ yards on less than 36 carries, isn't that the record, regardless of a 17th game.

back on topic though, he shouldn't be here because he should have been benched weeks ago!

And the thread lives on, along with its sister thread about #6 who lit it up today.  As if it couldn’t get any better.  Please keep posting because you are bringing us good luck.

And the winner for the dumbest thread of 2024.

Yep, bench him next week

Every Eagle who matters should be rolled in bubble wrap and placed in front of their flat screens for the Giants game. Let the depth guys play and get actual NFL game experience.

It might come in handy.

Welp the lions played their starters last night, instead of sitting them. I say go for the record. Get Hurts some throw time.

Tanner McKee needs significant time to see what he is. McKee did good things against Cowboys. I want to see if he can be better than Pickett.

If Hurts goes into the wildcard game having not played in 4 weeks he's probably going to look like crap.

Not necessarily. They did the same thing with McNabb and the rest of the offense in 2004. He played the opening drive in St Louis the 2nd to last game of the season, (similar to Hurts having played the first 2 drives in Washington). Donovan didn't play the final week against the Bengals, (just like Hurts didn't play against Dallas. The following week, the Eagles as the 1 seed had the bye, (the Giants would be the "bye" in this case). Then Donovan and the starters played against the Vikings in the divisional round and looked just fine. It's the same time frame.
