Posted September 17, 20241 yr 3 First round picks on the D line and we don't get any pressure. So I dunno, seems like it is what it is. Maybe just accept you didn't draft well and accept the consequences.
September 17, 20241 yr Yeah they are going to have to do that because that is where we are! Carter I still have hope with but Smith and Davis? No absolutely not.

Whatever or whoever that reason turns out to be- it has to STOP. Blowing 1st round picks like that? You get fired as a GM.

Every pick gets an A plus but the players turn out to be meh:(
September 17, 20241 yr Carter needs a stud End and Huff ain’t it. I’m not down on Carter but the rest 🤮🤮🤮 I mean we still rollin with BG?
September 17, 20241 yr Maybe we are expecting too much too soon, but Howie quickly threw money at Huff and that guy doesn’t look like he has any idea how to rush the passer. Sweat has been invisible for a long time now. Can’t give Carter or Davis a pass because the Dline was getting run over up the middle all game. The drop off of talent after AJ Brown is quite steep and I like Smith. Looks like the Eagles tried to go out there and act like mediocre WRs could be Brown when they just should’ve gave the ball to Barkley more. I feel like Hurts is on a consecutive week turnover list. Can’t remember the last time he hasn’t had one.

Since when does everyone of his picks get an A+? Do you mean since 3 years ago? Howie has so many head scratchers in his overall history that it's frankly insane. If you mean after the Justin Jefferson blunder then that would at least make some sense.
September 19, 20241 yr Next gen stats measures the average separation of a pass rusher to the QB at the time of the throw. The league average distance is 4.56 yards. At the bottom of the game center page after you click on an individual game, it has a graphic for the top four pass rushers for each team that week. In week 1, we only had 2 pass rushers below the league average: 1) Nolan Smith --- 4.05 yards 2) Brandon Graham --- 4.46 yards In week 2, we had at least 4 (it only shows the top 4) under the league average: 1) Jalen Carter --- 3.66 yards 2) Bryce Huff --- 3.68 yards 3) Josh Sweat --- 3.69 yards 4) Moro Ojomo --- 4.16 yards So ... how many lead changes have we seen in our first 2 games? Close scores have a lot to do with the play calling and execution. Our fastest sack in week 1 was Baun (3.7 seconds) and week 2 was M. Williams (3.3 seconds). In week 1, Love only held the ball for an average of 2.8 seconds and Cousins average time to throw against us was 2.93 seconds.

It’s getting glossed over, but this was still a winnable game. He only needed about 15 more yards to get into FG range and that pick killed any chance to win. Too many overall mistakes made in this game. Overall that’s on the coaches.
September 19, 20241 yr You count on Howie to keep all 1st round picks for 4 years. After the team will decline the 5th year option on davis then smith a year later.davis will be taking up space here thru next year unfortunately and smith for two more years after this one

Not that I hate Jalen but I definitely do not think he's playing the best.

September 21, 20241 yr It's the system. How many more times do guys need to be successful before and/or after they play for the Eagles defense for people to realize that. 2022 was lightning in a bottle and Reddick is the only pass rusher in recent years to have consistent success, and even he only had 1 or 2 sacks over the last 6 games last season. This is a poorly coached team, especially on defense and Howie and Lurie deserve the blame for that.

Hargrave, Riddick, CJ, TJ, etc? I dont remember this happening during the Reid days. When we signed a FA D player they became Eagles for life. Troy Vincent, Hugh Douglas, etc.

September 21, 20241 yr Nolan Smith was a bad pick from, Day 1. I agree, his inability to evaluate talent is one of the reasons why the defense is so pathetic. I retiring BG who is a rotational player at this point has been the best D-lineman on the team. Howie swings for the fence constantly with high picks only to strike out. The Reagor pick should have been the end of his drafting. Reached when Jefferson was right there for the taking. He hasn't drafted a difference maker on Defense in what seems like half a decade or longer and it shows. The team has little discipline and it shows game after game. All kinds of talk and then it's the same thing again and again. Siri needs to go and if Howie doesn't go he needs to be completely removed from any drafting decisions along with whoever is doing the evaluations. If Hurts throws another pick this weekend he should be benched. If he can't correct it then sit him. This team as it is may be lucky to get 8 wins. All the problems that showed up at the end of last season are still there plain as day. The arrow is pointing down unfortunately.

Time is the most important stat. So what if you get 3 yards to the QB if he has 5, 6 or 7 seconds to pass. Besides 3.66 yards, that’s 10’ away.

Any defense that lets you move the ball between the 20’s is joke. We need to press the WR’s and apply constant pressure to the QB. And Howie loves the system, hired the DC and drafted the players so he is 100% responsible.

Besides 3.66 yards, that’s 10’ away. ... and the league average is 4.46 yards (13.3 ') They are measuring the average, not just the closest or farthest pass rush attempt ... and during that time the opposing QB will be compiling his average for "time to throw." This sack took 3.3 seconds: Most QBs' average time to throw is less than that. If you look at the snap, Cousins is already 5 yards away before the ball is snapped and after the snap he backs up 3.5 more yards. These stats may be stupid to you, but they add context. That M. Williams sack was pretty fast. About the only way to be faster than that is to be completely unblocked. The fastest sacks each season will be an unblocked pass rusher that had momentum toward the LOS before the snap and that will usually be around 1.5 - 2 seconds. So the only real way to increase sacks is to force the other team's QB to hold the ball. Coming off a bad season opener, Cousins wasn't taking many chances last week.
