For 2 years all the Howie Humpers were praising him for drafting the Georgia defense (3 first round picks and 1 third round pick who was supposed to be the steal of the draft).  So far Carter is the only one showing some potential.  Howie did it again!

  • Jordan Davis
  • Nakobe Dean
  • Nolan Smith
  • Jalen Carter (potential)

EDIT: Hopefully this becomes the equivalent of the legendary "LeSean McCoy = BUST" thread on the old forum but it's not looking that way!

Time's yours.

Hopefully Ringo hits, done with Slay. No disrespect to him but let’s move on.

Thanks.  Completely forgot about him.  And I agree, hopefully he can replace No Play Slay.

Dean is ok.

Carter is good.

Rest of that list its pathetic. Could be all on Fangio.

Dean has picked things up and for where they picked him he could be fine if he stays healthy. Davis is a bust for where they picked him and the capital to move up. Smith sucks.

Was hoping it'd be Kyle Hamilton at that spot

The former Bulldogs aren't really the problem. I think Smith looks significantly better than Huff. He actually sets the edge on running plays. Dean is good, Davis is a good run stuffer, and Carter has superstar potential.

Jordan Davis a run stuffer??? Do you even watch the games? Jordan Davis is a huge BUST. Carter hasn't done sheeeiiittt. The former Bulldogs are now the Georgia Poodles.

The dogs aren’t barking yet. They’re all looking kind of average at best. Smith and Davis for the time they’re getting are doing little. The run defense looks so suspect right now. Is it because of this Fangio style of defense or are the players just not good enough?

I mean, yeah, something definitely isn't right with the run defense, and Davis is probably a part of that. We'll get gashed on the ground for a few plays, but then you'll see Davis in there on the next play standing up two guys and blowing the run up in the backfield. It's funny because I kind of like all of our interior guys. Davis, Williams, Carter all seem to be very good players at times, but our whole seems to be less than the sum of our parts.

I think it's on the coaching, there's a reason why no one wanted Fangio.

They way I look at it, Fangio is a 1 year rental, right along with Moore...

Siri has to go then. He won't get 4 different OC and DC coordinators in 4 consecutive years.

Agreed, should have been gone before the end of last season.

Jordan Davis is the most mystifying of the group.  He seems like another one of those players that has all of the God-given physical abilities that should make him a special player, but he just doesn't have the attitude to match.  Not sure if he's a "gentle giant" or what.  He just doesn't have any "dawg" in him.  He should dominate based on his size/athleticism combo.

Carter seems to have the better combo of attitude/athleticism and has had flashes of being elite...but I do wonder if his attitude is waning as well.  It's as if he doesn't play with any fire now either.

Nolan Smith seemed to have the right attitude, but lacks the size and skill.  Same for Dean.

All in all, there still seems to be a lingering morale or mentality issue this year.  Maybe the situation of Siri being on the hot seat, the change in coordinators, etc, has made for a stressful environment with no direction or cohesion.  If Siri is bitter, that will have a ripple effect throughout the lockerroom.

I don't know, but this team has been seriously off since all of last year and into this year (they got lucky in the beginning of the year last year to get to 10-1...I mean, REALLY lucky. Problems were around all year but exploded in the last 7 games).

I don’t know if I can blame just the coaching. What have any of them done up to this point? Even Carter fell of last season and he hasn’t really done much since.

Truth be told, Carter isn't playing any better than Davis, both of them have been ghosting since mid season 2023

The defense for the most part seems very soft. Shame.

So I guess Carter was benched for being late to a team function. You would think that would have motivated him to play better out there. He made one tackle.

Yeah, but Fangio talks tough in the media and throws his players under the bus. He's so old school!

You know I am wondering if the scheme just doesn’t fit the players. Carter had one tackle versus the Falcons. I know he didn’t start or play the full game, but one tackle??? Is this a case where Fangio doesn’t want his front line doing anything other than just holding up blocks for the linebackers to make plays? Did they draft this guy in the top ten just to see him not wreak havoc, rather make it so lesser talented linebackers can try and wreak havoc?
