Posted September 25, 20241 yr FRONTLINE on PBS this week profiles Harris and Trump purporting to show who they are as people. It will be repeated this week and is worth a watch, particularly if you're still on the fence. Following is my take. If you watch and disagree with my assessment you're welcome to post your opinion. I am one of the many voters eager to find out more about what Harris will do if elected. Trump's policy plans are posted online -just google Agency 47 or go to his website. There are 20 points to his agenda, all clearly stated. Harris has made general promises but shuns interviews where she might be pressed for details on things like how exactly she plans to lower food costs (will she set price controls, at what level, etc), so I was hoping this documentary might shed light on that. It did and it didn't... The show starts comparing their childhood years, which molded their personalities. TRUMP - His millionaire father favored his older brother, treated the other siblings like second class nobodies. Trump acted out like a rebellious brat and ended up in military school. A slap in his face when he tried acting up there spun him into a new direction. He ended up as a top cadet, literally leading his fellow cadets at the head of a city parade. Returning home he now supplanted his older brother, inheriting the position of his father's partner. Incredibly ambitious and egotistical he leveraged his position to conquer the Manhattan real estate market, but was shunned by the old money elite, inflaming his ego further. A darling of the media and master of self-promotion he was (ironically) provoked to consider running for president by Oprah, years before he did. Everything after this point in the doc is what we already know. A surprising rise to the presidency and all the scandals and missteps before and after. They show Trump speaking the controversial "fine people on both sides" line but although showing two versions back to back, both are edited versions not showing the entire quote in context. KAMALA - Jamaican father left when she was seven. Her Indian mother made sure she retained a strong black identity and instilled progressive values which stayed with her. Learning of her friend's sexual abuse enhanced her desire to fight for women's rights. She got a law degree at Howard University, graduated as a lawyer. When campaigning for DA in San Francisco she promised never to seek the death penalty, and upheld this promise when prosecuting a cop killer, after which she was publicly humiliated by Democratic bigwig Dianne Feinstein. According to the commentary, this was a huge learning lesson about politics, and likely explains her reluctance to make specific campaign pledges now, sticking to general speeches about women's health issues, patriotic love of America, the future, etc. The few adult campaign pledges shown in the program are her support for BLM and a televised promise to fund trans surgery for prison inmates, including undocumented immigrants. The biggest negative is footage of her lying to Lester Holt, first saying she went to the border, then immediately admitting she didn't after he refused to accept the lie. There's also some juicy stuff about her relationship with Willie Brown, including one funny embarrassing moment when a woman at a dance club asks if she's his daughter. The two hour doc is being rebroadcast this week and like I said it's worth a look. If you've already made your choice you probably won't see anything to change it. But it's still very interesting.

They added that like last week. You all said she'd just continue Bidens platform but she really isn't Just step back and realize you're going to vote for a candidate who received no primary votes and is developing a platform on the fly....all to save our Democracy. You guys are heroes, you all deserve our thanks

September 25, 20241 yr kamala has been in the race for 5 minutes & has already given more policy specifics than cheeto has in 9 years.

I know your attention is currently divided between this and your insane coping thread about Kamala's "assassination," so I'll just accept the hilarious broken English and say that the PBS pieces were probably developed before Team Harris decided to start writing things down.

My point isnt based on an analysis of which policies are similar and which aren't. It's the fact that a major justification for Kamala being the nominee, and thus saving our precious Democracy, was that she would run on Bidens platform because he is the incumbent and his platform won the presidency and the primary votes. The Dems would love to just ignore the fact that they are incredible hypocrites by saying Trump would end our democracy when he got votes and Kamala didn't. That's one of their core messages and they violated it themselves by propping up a vegetable POTUS, getting caught doing it, then just ish-canning Biden and hand picking their nominee.

Totally unfair. I fixed the grammatical error about 5 seconds after that posts. You're too fast with the quote button. And his comment about her having no plan has nothing to do with the PBS piece. He said she has no plan and then said, "Trump's policy plans are posted online -just google Agency 47 or go to his website. There are 20 points to his agenda, all clearly stated."

She is running on his platform. Did you expect her NOT to create her own website?
