I don’t know if it’s just the player or if Fangio doesn’t believe in him, but I don’t think he’s getting out of that doghouse anytime soon.

Surely he’s going to be traded? I think we’d take a bag of potato chips for him at this point. Right now he’s behind Smith, Hunt, Ojulari and probably Uche. And I’m sure given the chance they’ll look to add a DE in the draft fairly high.

The problem is the contract. We can’t trade him prior to 1 June without a cap hit. And when we can, it’s doubtful anyone would want to take on that contract after last season.

They might just want to move him? Say Huff and a 4th for a 5th or something like that? To a team that knows it won’t be good next year, has a lot of cap space and may hope he can rediscover his 2023 form. It’s a long shot but I just don’t see a place on this roster for him. He wasn’t trusted last year and right now he’s probably the 5th DE.

As great as Howie has been this one is going to haunt him for a while.  Given that he had only one good season under his belt, you can argue that it was a HUGE unnecessary risk. Imaging having that contract value back now... we could have kept some of our free agents.

The other GM's are not blind on the situation.  They have to love Huff enough to make the trade sweetened by some picks.  Howie might just take the cap hit and cut him after June 1.

That's the one thing -- cutting him outright before camp -- I am confident they will not do.  He is guaranteed to be paid $16,750,000 this year and absolutely nothing next year.  If you have to pay him $16.75M anyway, there is no way you don't bring him to camp to see what he has this year.  If they can get something for him (which I doubt), they could possibly trade him, but there is no way they are simply cutting him.  Sure, I suppose they could cut him after training camp if it becomes absolutely clear he cannot help the team, but it would make zero sense to cut him before a full chance to prove himself in training camp.

There's no way he'll be cut, even if they do it after June 1st it costs $20mill this year, honestly I don't see who trades for him either because his contract is horrible, even with an injury crisis after final roster cuts there'll be guys on the street with similar production to Huff last year who will come a lot cheaper, OTC's valuation tab essentially says we're paying him about 16mill a year too much based on production, you'd have to offer a pretty high pick to even get teams to answer your calls about a salary dump trade.

My guess is he's given a chance in pre season and either recovers some form in a rotation role or is a healthy scratch most of the year before being cut with a June 1st next off season.
