I'm convinced this was a Howie/analytics driven front office signing without much if any Fangio input. Fangio's quotes from training camp on have been like a backhanded compliment. Said he had to learn to be a full-time player, said he is in a rotation, played him the last preseason game when no other starter played, etc.

October 9, 20241 yr He has without a doubt stunk it up, but a lot of these takes are pretty much revisionist history. He was viewed as one of, if not the best pure pass rusher in FA. It hasn't panned out at all which is disappointing, but to make out like most of you weren't excited by the move is crap.

I was OK with signing him. I thought we needed younger talent at the position and viewed him as "up and coming". The moves I didn't like were dealing 3rd rd picks for Pickett and Dotson (more so Pickett).

I was excited because I tend to be pretty optimistic and there's a lot to like about getting a double digit sack guy who is only 26, but there were also some major red flags with Huff and it wasn't without risk. Him never being an every down player and only being used as a situational pass rusher was concerning especially when you're shelling out 13 mill a season. Prior to his ten sack season, he had never had more than 12 tackles in a year and two years ago, he only had 6. He also went undrafted for a reason. So, while he did have one big season, he was an underwhelming pro prospect who road the bench for 3 of his 4 years in the league and was a situational pass rusher his only effective season.

October 13, 2024Oct 13 What always has me thinking is the Coaches we lost and the GMs we could of had. When Reaid left and went to KS he took that club and ran with it. They have a great GM, Veach , who grew up here in MT. Carmel. These guy's that come from small football town always seems to be the winners. I appreciate Howie but we need new faces. Howie has had 2 good years, in my opinion. Once we won it all and once we made it to the dance. Always have talent but the coaching staffs just plain out suck.
