And Maddox shouldn't be starting either.

And can't wait until Slay is gone too. Why can't we just play the young guys?

 

because the young guys aren't great either. 

Nobody plays for the love of the game and hunger to win at all costs anymore. Nowadays they play for the money and they know they're getting paid either way and want to make sure they stay in good health so another team can overpay for them when the team they're on realizes they suck

CJ has been loud and running his mouth, hes had a few big hits in the box but in the open field hes missed too many tackles couple that with getting toasted in coverage week after week and hes been pretty bad 

Not sure why Maddox was ever brought back, hes was below average last year and this year he hasnt been any better 

Slay still thinks hes an all pro, clearly hes not, No Play Slay looks cooked to me.

I agree let the young guys play, Ringo I think is ready, why not give rodgers a shot at nickel, or let him play outside with mitchell moving inside on passing downs, why not give eli ricks some snaps.

Why isnt Dejean playing over Maddox, let all the young guys gros together?

This team has a good amount of young talent riding the bench sitting behind some trash vets.

He should be playing in the slot where he belongs

There are at least 5 bigger concerns than CJGJ... the head coach and gimmick QB being the top 2.

Maddox is a major liability on the field.

CJGJ is a loud mouth. You want to call THAT swagger? I say it's NOT. He can't back it up with his play. Can't wait for Sydney Brown to play.

Once again, coaching. Why in the F is he covering the Bucs best WR one on one in the red zone. This is the same DC who had Nolan FN Smith covering Chris Godwin one on one. I'm not giving CJGJ or any of the players a pass but anyone who can't see that coaching has had a major negative impact on players here since last season is clueless. Look at how many guys were good before they got here and/or good after they left. Kevin Byard is a prime example. He looked completely lost here and he is back to being a good starting S in Chicago. The coaching fir this team is an absolute joke and Howie and Lurie are a joke as well for the decisions made in that regard.

People don't admitting fault. A lot of people spent all off-season here being insufferable for CJGJ and slurping him endlessly in ways that would make even the most scandalous of women blush. Remember when people were insisting Reed should be the third safety behind CJGJ and Simmons? Good times.

Said it all along, CJGJ is a slot, he's not a safety because he doesn't have the fundamentals to play the position. Now that's exactly what you're seeing. So yes, we should have gotten Simmons. But we should have gotten him so CJGJ could play slot, and Maddox could be on the street. Unfortunately, we missed that memo, and now we're stuck.

I would love to see that too but the main reason they aren't is because Howie thinks this team is built to win now and feel the vets are better suited to help them do so.  Maybe if this team is still looking as bad in late November or December they'll finally pull their heads out of the sand and we'll see that (but even then I doubt it ... they'll continue to think "if we can just get on a roll ... ".

Byard played very solid football for us. People didn't "like" him because he wasn't a difference maker here. But he wasn't bad or "lost." The only reason the Eagles didn't keep him was because of his 2024 salary. 

CJGJ's issue has been too high of a missed tackle percentage for a safety. He prefers to go for the big hits and doesn't wrap up as often as he should. He hasn't played his best football for us these 1st 4 games. I know fans are concerned, but this early in the season the finger-pointing is just overreaction.

CJGJ is always a mixed bag. A great play in spots, then bad coverage in others.

He celebrates a basic tackle like he just won the game, then a few plays later gives up a TD.

Then tells the media they're the best secondary in the league and calls out haters.

Swag & confidence is great...when you back it up.

Completely false. Byard was terrible here. He got beat in coverage time and time again and often looked confused communicating with teammates after big plays against zone.

We had different coaching when he was here

Can’t fully say I can defend his play, but I really can’t defend Slay going on Parson”s podcast to trash him.

Your comment assumes the same exact people who defend Hurts and are not critical of him at all, are ripping CJGJ. There are different people with different opinions. There are also people that only focus on hating Hurts and blaming him, and not talking about the coaching, defense, LBs, etc. There are people that focus on hating Siri only and not talk about anything else. There are also people who both defend Hurts and blame him for his mistakes to have balance. And there are people who used to defend Hurts that now criticize him.
