Posted October 25, 2024Oct 25 DeCamara: 'Hoping Saquon Barkley can be Eagles' version of Marshall Faulk' Joe DeCamara admits he was wrong about Saquon Barkley and underestimated how good he would be for the Eagles, now hoping that the 27-year-old running back can become Philadelphia's version of Marshall Faulk in the early 2000's. "If we are wrong, we'll admit it," DeCamara told a caller on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show. "Like, Saquon is better than I thought, period end of story. I did think he'd be good. I did not think he'd have this left. After the injuries and the wear and tear he is way, way more explosive than I expected. "Now I'm like, wow if he can do this for three or four years maybe he can make the Hall Of Fame which felt off track. Now I'm starting to think maybe he can be the Eagles' Marshall Faulk. Fault was like whatever with the Colts. It was kind of a waste of time, it was a waste of time. And then he got traded to the Rams and became one of the greatest running backs we've ever seen and that's what I'm hoping Saquon can be with the Eagles." After playing his first six seasons for the Giants, Barkley signed a three-year deal worth up to $46.75 million in bonuses ($26 million guaranteed) with the Eagles in March. Barkley rushed for 176 yards on just 17 carries in his return to MetLife on Sunday in an Eagles' 28-3 win. His 10.4 yards per carry was an Eagles' franchise record (minimum 15 carries). Barkley, in his first season with the Eagles, is having a career-year. Barkley already has 658 rushing yards (3rd in NFL) on 108 carries, averaging career highs in yards per carry (6.1) and yards per game (109.7)—both currently rank second best in the NFL. Barkley has six total touchdowns in six games as well. Faulk, after playing five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, was traded to the St. Louis Rams where he career exploded. Faulk averaged over five yards per carry in his first three seasons with the Rams where he scored an insane 57 total touchdowns over his first three seasons in St. Louis. The Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000. https://www.audacy.com/94wip/sports/eagles/saquon-barkley-marshall-faulk-philadelphia-eagles-rb-nfl
