Posted October 29, 2024Oct 29 There were a lot of great, Great! performances against Cinci...Starting with Hurts..etc..etc.. But The one player who surprised me the Most, was Coop. Frankly because I did not expect it from him. I expected Coop to play like a rookie in this game, where he makes some plays and misses some, but this was not the case. Unexpectedly , Coop was a Terminator tackling machine. He took on Pro bowlers and looked like a Full Time starter playing for Pro Bowl consideration himself. It was so different then where he was several weeks ago. I am very positively surprised. At Times on some plays he reminded me of a younger version of Dawkins. Let's hope he stays healthy and keeps it up.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Might have turned the tide of the game with that 4th down tackle on Chase. Since he’s been inserted into the defense Fangio has been sending a lot more blitzes. These two rookie corners have been great.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Tremendous post. I like to call him Cooper DeLevi's. He is like tough pair of jeans. Vital to a working person's success. Much like he is to our defense.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 The future of the secondary has me giddy. Mitchell/Rodgers/DeJean I still think Ringo has all the tools to transition to safety. If not, depth is a wonderful thing. Sydney Brown has to get his sea legs sturdy, but we saw flashes last season. Ghost keeps making plays. CJGJ can be a playmaker when he wants to. He may be expendable after next season. Feels like this group is young and talented. Been a while.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Cooper DeJAWN. This Jawn is a beast already. He doesn't play like a rookie- he plays like a vet. All you had to do is look at his eyes when he is competing. It's there....he has "IT" in spades. Just that look in his eyes tells you he is going to whoop your ass. He is a bad ass.

He’s also been playing the secondary closer to the LoS or at least that’s how it feels… Perhaps he’s trusting these guys more to hold their own?
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Yep, he was awesome. He did have one really bad play that cost the Eagles dearly. However, he completely made up for it with the 4th down stop. Great rookie!
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Excited for him on draft day based on his college highlight. It was fortunate that the early picks went for QBs and offense. We got the best 2 DBs in the draft. The ways DeJawn' played in college projects him to be confident player, with good techniques and prepare well for the game. He has a huge upside as he gains more game experience.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 I really hope he continues to be a monster when we go to Dallas next week. Him and Q. I’m really tired of losing down there and it’s been since 2011 since we swept them. Were long over due and this is the year it can be done.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 I like how you can tell that if given the chance, he wants to let receivers know they got hit.

October 29, 2024Oct 29 Q and DeJawn bringing top talent, intensity, confidence and toughness right out of the gate. We haven't seen that from defensive draft picks in a long time. Love to see it.

Yep, it's so nice to see receivers going backwards when he hits them on those short little out routes. Those types of hits are the difference between the guy picking up two to three yards rather than turning it in to six or seven if they can break a tackle or backpack the defender an extra handful of yards. Crucial.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Replacing bradberry and maddox with Q and dejawn is one of the best decisions we've made since the philly special call.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 I think he is already averaging a better return yardage than Covey ever did. That is one benefit.

DeJean is averaging 11.3 yards per return with a long of 28 yards. Covey averaged 14.4 yards per return last season, with a long of 54 yards. I really like Covey as a punt returner. He doesn't waste space by going sideways. But DeJean is no slouch as a return man either --- so we are in really good shape there if one is hurt (like Covey is currently).

It is encouraging to me that DeJean already has a long, albeit by 1 yard, longer than any Covey had his rookie season. And is averaging better than Covey's rookie season. I had high expectations for Covey as a returner considering his college career, but he has been lackluster for the most part. He was better later season.

Most PRs don't want to hurt their return average so they fair catch some that could be returned for a couple yards.
November 3, 2024Nov 3 He is a great tackler and its infectious. Its making the whole team tackle much better.
November 4, 2024Nov 4 Guy plays with a chip on his shoulder and it seems to have spread to the rest of the secondary. Since he has replaced Maddox the entire defense looks better.
