October 31, 20241 yr Deadline trades tend to be too costly. When we're not desperate, there's probably not enough value to be worthy of the cost.

He usually throws away a decent pick for bums that don't play or don't make a difference. Keep the picks. Yep. His trades have sucked in general and especially at the deadline. Keep the picks.

With 20/20 hindsight, woulda rather waited and tried to get DHop or Dionte for their price tags. It's so hard to know if Dotson's lack of production is due to him, Hurts just rarely looking in his direction or the coaching staff not making an effort to involve him more.

Can't forget the 3rd on Pickett!

October 31, 20241 yr I´m comfortable with the Dotson deal. Was a bit of insurance with Smitty and AJ and Philly G all getting hurt. Now the first two are back, and Calc is playing well, and Barkley is setting the earth on fire, it´s no surprise Dotson isn´t offering much production. If we end up relying on him as a #1 receiver, then I´ll be more worried

November 1, 20241 yr Am i the only one who thinks we need another linebacker? Dean is an injury waiting to happen.
November 1, 20241 yr The only way I do a trade is if you give up a 1st for someone like Miles Garrett (not saying the Browns are trading him or that only a 1st would do it) but my point, if you're going to go for it...go for it. Get the best possible player knowing you have to give up a lot. Don't give up a mid to lower draft pick for someone that can maybe help.
November 1, 20241 yr I'm making a move for a DL and LB...we are 1 injury away from nothing there at those positions. We need the pressure to help our young DB's.

I'll just say what I said when they made the trade. Wide receiver is a position of need for Washington (Noah Brown and Olamide Zecchaus are their #2 and #3 WRs), and they let Dotson go. They saw him every day for the last two seasons and they obviously did not think he can play. Combine that with his lack of production this season, and I think it is safe to put Dotson at about the Jalen Reagor level of WR.

Be it his route running, his hands, being where he needs to be when the ball is thrown, etc..
November 1, 20241 yr Inserting a new player in the line up without the familiarity of schemes and teammates, rarely is a productive move. If the team is lacking a piece to go over the top or injury replacement, then cases can be made. Guys here already pointed out Howie's record on trade deadline has not been stellar. Better to keep the bat on the shouder.

I did see Dotson run a filthy route that put a defender on his a** against Cincy. So my guess is that he is going to get more looks going forward. I think it was good for him to come here and discover what great route running is. He has clearly improved since he got here.

It's just a compilation of relevant Dotson snaps from the bengals game so people who are interested can see if he's doing something wrong or just not being used. IMO, after going through the all 22, he's just doing what they are asking him to do. We used quite a bit 12 personnel in the game so Dotson obviously wasn't in on those plays and A. Smith and Wilson both saw some snaps in place of Dotson. Dotson wasn't remarkably open on every play or anything, but he was able to get open a few times. He blocks willingly, but isn't super strong or anything. It appeared Hurts looked at him one time on a crosser where a LB was in the area, but didn't pass to him.
November 2, 20241 yr I'd still go after a pass rusher. Huff is not the guy and not a great fit for the scheme Fangio is running.
November 2, 20241 yr It wouldn't be a bad idea to target OL depth or more RB depth. I'm not sure what kind of RB's will be available. Could also be a move to keep a RB away from Dallas.
November 3, 20241 yr If I'm Howie I'm not letting Devin Lloyd leave town after the game today..make a deal with Jacksonville, then grab a DE.
November 3, 20241 yr I really don’t think Howie is going to make a move. I think his move was for Dotson and in Fangio he’s got a DC saying in year moves are hard to integrate.
