December 16, 2024Dec 16 Didn't McCoy kind of get discovered this way? IIRC he was spelling Westy and turned out to be just as good if not better. I"m not saying KG is as good as Barkley but it's good to know he can make big plays when needed.

I was at the Washington game when Westbrook got hurt and Shady just came in and killed them. Gainwell was a 4th or 5th round pick I believe, but what’s interesting about him was that he didn’t play the Covid year and I think that hurt his draft status. I believe he’s in the final year of his deal too so he has something to play for.

But he always seems to make the most of them. And Gainwell did that again in Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Steelers. As Saquon Barkley played through a minor injury, Gainwell had a big game with 60 scrimmage yards and some huge first-down pickups. "I think he’s probably the most underrated guy in this locker room,” Lane Johnson said. "I think he’s a starter anywhere else. He runs the ball extremely well, he’s a great teammate, he’s always practiced hard, he’s always trained hard. That’s where I think the respect factor in the locker room comes in. Just how he approaches his opportunities and when he gets his chances, he makes the most of them.” Gainwell on Sunday finished with 7 carries for 20 yards and 3 catches for 40. All three of his catches moved the sticks on third downs. In 14 games this season, Gainwell now has 361 scrimmage yards, averaging 5.2 yards per touch. After this season, Gainwell will become a free agent for the first time in his career. While his chances have been limited in 2024, the Eagles clearly trust him to make the most of however many touches he gets. December 18, 2024Dec 18 Gainwell is contributing to the overall success of the team. Did not get a lot of touches with Barkley taking most of the running snaps. But made the most of what he got. It is essential for every team to have a back-up RB. Gainwell fits the bill. The main RB of last season (what was his name?) is doing well with his new team. Player who can't make our team can still be pretty good for other teams.

January 27Jan 27 I liked what the Eagles did after the concussion --- giving Goedert and Smith some carries to keep Barkley fresh. But even so, Shipley proved later in the game that he can help if needed too. This was Moore's best game, IMO and considering the injuries to Cam and Landon, it was even more impressive. This week of rest should really help Gainwell, Cam, Landon, Covey, and Graham be available.

Hopefully Moore is smart enough to wait another season instead of going to that dumpster fire of a franchise

But if Moore does such a good job in two weeks to get a new job next year, I won't be upset.
