But ... if the Vikings lose (they would then have 3 losses) and they beat the Lions in the finale (Detroit would then also have 3 losses) we could get the 1 seed if we win out. A lot of ifs but not impossible. Yeah agree on it being a tough game. But I believe that if the Vikings were 1 game behind that Lions going in to the last week, the division would be out of reach, so they probably would rest their starters.

The main thing is that we keep on winning to give us a chance at that 1 seed and that the 1 seed is still a possibility (we have no idea what other teams are thinking ... whether they will rest starters or not).

Agreed, im just going to enjoy the ride and not worry about all the "ifs" . Im happy to win the division and the #2.
December 19, 20241 yr 1st seed or 2nd. We're gonna plow through everyone!!!! LFG!!!!!! FLY EAGLES FLY
December 19, 20241 yr It's meaningless until it actually happens, of course. But the NY Times gives the Eagles the highest percentage chance of winning the Super Bowl at 21%. The next highest is Buffalo at 17%. Spoiler Spoiler You have to subscribe to the NY Times to see the full page, but if you archive it on Archive.org, then view it over there, you can see the whole page. So here's the archive that I did a few minutes ago, if you want to see the whole list. https://web.archive.org/web/20241219192136/https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/upshot/nfl-playoff-picture.html

December 20, 20241 yr Lions have lost so many players it's difficult to pick. They could lose all 3. I doubt they lose to Bears though. Bears have mailed it in 49ers have done as well. Lions could end up winning the next 2 and losing to Vikings

December 20, 20241 yr Not that you wanna think this way but if we win this week and wrap up the division and #2 seed. Theoretically they could rest most of the starters the next two weeks instead of having a bye. Still have atleast two home games in the playoffs with an outside chance at a third.
December 21, 20241 yr Too many things to happen for the Eagles to get the #1 seed. I'll be happy to get through the season without any major injuries and kick some butt in the playoffs.

But even then, if they’ve lost a game and we haven’t, then the Lions still need that W so they aren’t able to rest anyone until they’ve built up a lead. So even in that scenario where we don’t end up with the #1 seed I think it is still better for us, especially given the number of injuries the Lions are dealing with.
December 21, 20241 yr having a bye week can hurt them as much as help them. im fine with the 2 and resting starters if that scenario happens
December 21, 20241 yr Author Currently, Detroit holds the advantage (over Minnesota) in all of the top 3 tiebreakers: Head-to-head (Lions beat Vikings in week 6 ... obviously the Vikings can even that up in the regular season finale) Record in conference (Lions with 1 loss in NFC to TB - their other loss is to Buffalo; Vikings 2 losses in the NFC - to the Lions and Rams) Record against common opponents (Lions are 10-0 in common games played with 2 more to play; Vikings are 9-1 with 2 more to play) Like the Eagles, the Vikings don't control their destiny for that 1 seed ... the Lions do.

Nope, as long as they have a shot at the #1 seed, you go for it. Once that is eliminated, rest the starters (assuming the 2 seed is locked).

If we win tomorrow, we are locked in no worse than the 2 seed. That's the good part.
December 21, 20241 yr Right, and let's just say Detroit and Minnesota lose 1 game the next two weeks each, then we play everyone until the end of the season and get the #1 seed. If going into the last week vs. the Giants, all we can have is the #2 seed, then you rest everyone important that last game. You DO NOT take a chance on someone important getting injured for a meaningless game.

The Giants have checked out, and they can't even enjoy playing spoiler. We could still win anyway.

December 22, 20241 yr I don't care what seed they have, they can rest the starters in the final game and go beat whoever they get matched up with.
