I get what you're saying, I just think it's unreasonable to expect perfectly normalized data on a population scale for medical outcomes. And while I'm not a statistician, I've done enough MVAs that I have a very hard time realistically believing that a handful of variables with 3-13% differences in the population and a mortality ratio of 3-4 can reasonably add up to such a huge difference in population mortality alone.Â

With healthcare tied to employment, the cost needs to include the lost income that goes to pay for the insurance coverage in the first place - which includes both employer and employee contributions. Also, 8 out of 10 are happy with healthcare because only 2 out of 10 actually use it to a meaningful degree in a given year. The only people dissatisfied are people who actually have to use it.

There are literally dozens of surveys saying the opposite about "healthcare satisfaction" in the US. https://kffhealthnews.org/morning-breakout/survey-finds-nearly-80-dissatisfied-with-cost-of-health-care-in-us/#:~:text=In the lowest marks in,looks at Medicare Advantage plans. Quote In the lowest marks in over two decades, a Gallup poll finds that only 19% of Americans are satisfied with the costs of health care in 2024. Quality ratings suffer as well, with less than a majority of people giving "good" or "excellent." And a separate survey looks at Medicare Advantage plans. Â

I agree with this, though I would not want to see BMI used as the barometer. It's very misleading for people who have relatively low body fat % but high muscle weight.Â

Sure sounds like an appeal to self-authority to me.Â
