And just to be clear I’m not saying Hurts doesn’t deserve criticism- he absolutely does. He’s had games recently where he has been reluctant to release, not progressed his reads quickly enough and taken sacks in really bad situations.

But the Hurts haters are coming out of the woodwork. Just a few facts:

1) Hurts was second team all pro in 2022 - played a ridiculously good game in the Super Bowl. Eagles were out coached and the D was shocking. Hurts deserved to win.

2) Hurts was really good for the first 12 weeks of 2023. He willed the Eagles to 10-1 despite an average running game and a poor D. He was MVP favourite after 12 weeks. 

3) This year we’ve transitioned to a running back led offense. All I see on this board is posters demanding we run the ball and Hurts cuts down on turnovers. When he does that, it’s now he’s not passing for enough yards.

4) There have been a number of games this year where Barkley hasn’t got it going early and Hurts has beaten teams with his arms and legs. Due to our great D, we just haven’t needed to pass mostly in the 4th quarter and Barkley has destroyed them.

He needs to play better but he is still a top 10 QB and we are lucky to have him.

The eagles are winning. The team has my support. Hurts is a detriment. Theyve won in spite of him holding back the production of our passing game weapons. He deserves criticism for playing so poorly.

This is one of the most root-able teams we have had. Just a group of great players that play the right way.

Aside from the past few days of drama, this has been a very fun season.

Watching the Giants and DAL fall apart is an awesome bonus too.

Agreed, we have two young cornerbacks that are playing great for rookies. Looks like we finally have some linebackers, the Georgia boys stepped up and Barkley is just amazing. Hurts is what he is at the point, he is never going to be top tier QB but the man is winning games, that’s why I’m just enjoying the ride.

Our running game, though, is much better this year. Our yards per carry in 2022 was 4.6. That was good for 13th in the league. This year it is 5.2, good for second.

Now, the conclusion that many people have reached is that Jalen Hurts sucks, so we have to rely on the running game.

However, another possible conclusion is that we are simply a much better running team this year than we were in 2022. Another key component is that our defense is better this year. We are giving up 18 points a game, while in 2022 we gave up just over 20.

Ultimately, the three biggest differences between 2022 and 2024 are that we are throwing less, but just as efficiently (and way better than last year), we are much better at running the ball and our defense is marginally better.

So, to summarize, anyone who said Hurts needed to play better this year than he did last year should be really happy. Anyone who said Hurts could never play qb at the level he achieved in 2022 is wrong, at least from an efficiency standpoint, and anyone who thinks this team can't go to the Super Bowl again is fooling themselves.

Hurts, the passing game and the O overall haven't been bad or inefficient all year. But there has been a slip the last two weeks, last week in particular which is concerning. The one thing holding them up is we are great at red zone conversions - getting TDs when we get going and not settling for FGs.

The best measures to look at efficiency for me for Hurts are: Points / drive (too many quick drive enders last two weeks), YPA (poor the last two weeks after he was damn near high single digits/low double digits which is outstanding when he was playing his best), avoiding negative plays / drive killers (turnovers he has been avoiding but taking too many sacks), 3rd down %.

I'm hopeful that we are getting a big passing game today...Hurts will come out with a chip on his shoulder

All of those losses. At least that guys numbers were good right? We miss that loser who didn’t want to run certain plays that lead to a SB victory, because the other guy won with it. What the hell are you going on about Wentz for? There is no mention of him at all in this thread lol. Actually i dont even think any of the ones in here that dont like Hurts were done with Wentz too.

The same people who have been trashing Hurts are mostly the same people who have been crying since that guy left. All Jalen does is keep winning and the same people keep crying. Obviously that old garbage is missed. We don’t care about winning just stats.

I haven't even seen his name brought up all season until now. Those guys you are talking about aren't even on this board anymore.

It’s the same tired arguments. Those who have ish will go run and hide for now and then come out of the woodwork the first sign of Jalen struggling. It’s rinse and repeat. Honestly it’s why I’m not on the board as much. So tired of seeing people crying about winning.

I agree with that. I dont post as much as i used to and dont really post in the game day thread during the game much. The crying in the first minute of the game is ridiculous.

At this point I don’t care how it looks. I care about the wins. This quarterback and this coach keep winning. Time to embrace it.

Love Carson Wentz. He played today. Did you catch his stats today? He was like 2 for 2. Awesome day.

One of my favorite pastimes on this board is trolling Jalen Hurts.

It was good to see him have a good game and good stats, aside from that first quarter fumble.

It was starting to look and sound horrible around here and in the locker room with the way Hurts had been playing.

Im back on the Sirriani bandwagon! Lol. I never really got off but, not going to lie i did lose complete faith in him for a minute. They needed to get the passing game going better than it was though and they showed they could go back to it when necessary. Im happy as F for this team.

I was not feeling the QB or the coach for a moment there, but the complaining while they’re winning to me is just nonsense. Trying to make something an issue and create controversy for no reason. They’re winning and some fans seem to hate it.
