Granted this is hard given the fact Howie didn't resign any of our free agents to be. But, I'll take a couple of guesses. Note the Eagles have abot $30M in cap space which will grow to $35M when they let Bradberry go as a post June 1 release.

  • Milton Williams hasn't resigned because he senses a big pay day. He'll be the #1 DT target in the league and move on
  • Mekhi Becton loves it here, but his play dictates a major contract, that we simply can't afford to match.
  • Kenny Gainwell moves on
  • Avonte Maddox won't be resigned
  • Covey, Uzomah, Booker and Harris are not resigned before the draft
  • Brandon Graham does NOT run it back for one more year
  •
  • Josh Sweat doesn't get the offers he expects and stays
  • Howie breaks the mold and resigns Zack Baun
  • We keep Isaiah Rogers
  • We keep one of either Jack Driscoll or Big Fred Johnson
  • Nick Gates stays at the minimum
  • Oren Burks comes back  - he got theminimum last year and only plays nthe last game. It's the minimum again
  • Lovato is back again
  • Let's stop the Slay won't be back nonsense

We go into free agency and the draft needing a DT (Williams), DE (Graham), G (Becton), backup slot corner (Maddox), and running back (Gainwell). On our own depth chart we have possibilties. Steen ready to step in for Becton , Castro-Fields  ready to replace Maddox, Davis Price in the running back mix, and the ever present Brett Toth providing OL depth. .

There no Militon Williams quality no DT's I see in free agency so that's a draft priority. There are plenty of DE's who can replace BG so it's not. Prediction - a major DE signing in free agency - let's hope whoever it is produces better than Huff.

DRAFT:

  • 1 - DT Derrick Harmon, Oregon. Williams replacement
  • 2 - G/T Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona (should his nickname be vowel?) Becton replacement who will battle Steen for a staritng job.
  • 3 - TE Terrance Ferguson, Oregon. We need better depth at the position plus ther eare both age and health issues with Goedert
  • 4 - RB Cameron Skattebo , Arizona State. Gainwell's replacement is a jack of all trades.
  • 5 - CB Cobee Bryand, Kansas. Measurables of 6'0" 188 4.48 make him a prospect to consider
  • 5 - LB Kain Medrano, UCLA. Not sure Van Summeran will be ready early in the season
  • 5 - OT Nolan Rucci, Penn State. Stoutland gets a 6'8" 320 lb project in house to replace Big Fred or Driscoll.

Fun exercise I’ll try to get one done before long.. I think scat goes much earlier then the 4th dude just has that it factor and I think increases his stock in meetings.

Nice initial effort It seems to assume a rather pasive approach on the part of Howie. I'm hoping otherwise.

I've followed the draft closely now for over 25 years and rarely does it play out anywhere near what I would expect. In retrospect, I realize that alot of groundwork must take place (scouting, combines, interviews, cap management, trades and free agency) prior to the draft in order to experience a successfull off-season. Thus, I'll be watching closely to see if/how Howie lays out the groundwork in an aggressive and creative spirit.

I see 3 starting positions requiring immediate attention: Guard (Becton) Linebacker (Baun), and DE/Edge (Sweat). These will become priorities on days 1/2 if not resolved beforehand.

I've noticed that the last 4 drafts have contributed around 2 starters each season, as compared to to the prior 5 that have produced 2 total. Additionally, free agency and trades have contributed an additional 7 starters, including 3 Pro Bowlers. I attribute this in large measure to Howie and his staff. Let's hope they continue with their success this off-season.

BTW, where did you dig up Nolan Rucci? I see where he was considered a highly-rated H.S. prospect. Despite both his parents being PSU athletes and being recruited, he chose Wisconson where he stagnated for 3 years. He only started the last 4 games this season, due to the starter going down. He seems to be lacking game experience. Could he be considering another year at PSU? Otherwise, he might be viewed as a priority UDFA. What do you think?

He showed up on the prospects list for OT's on walterfootball.com. I threw him in there fro a couple of reasons - size 6'8 which Stoutland loves and Penn State which I am a fan of and have close familt ties (son and grandson are graduates).

PS - Not many of us on the board this year. Anxiously waiting for Ray75 to start weighing in.

Unfortunately I agree, but I'll gladly substitute Keytron Allen

Some information from the east west shrine bowl practices

Cobee Bryant, CB, Kansas (5-11, 171)

CB Renardo Green showed his ultra-competitive and physical nature at last year's Shrine Bowl practices, ultimately helping to make him a second-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers. Bryant's making a similar case for a top-64 selection this time around. He's been a nagging presence in man coverage, knocking away passes and forcing turnovers. Like Green a year ago, Bryant has drawn a number of flags from the referees on hand at practice, but NFL teams know aggressive play is a must in today's league. Bryant doesn't present the most fluid hips in transition, weighs just 171 pounds and has small hands (8 7/8"). That said, he offers solid length (31 7/8-inch arms) and off-the-charts confidence -- two key ingredients for a starting corner.

I've done my first for this year and it went so well I don't want to do another one.

I'd be thrilled with this haul.

Oof I mean I like some of those but no DL until late? I’d be a little worried.

We have Huff we'll be fine

The offensive line is the strength of this team. Signing Becton should be # 1 priority to keep that unit intact. Then Sign Zach Baun.

Guess I’ll have to look up these players because I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of any of them.
