It's all mental with him.  Guy didn't all of a sudden forget how to kick.  They don't have to cut him which would be nuts as he could revert to form next year.  They could add a second kicker to the roster and de-activate Elliott on game day (hopefully two more games).  That means they would need to cut somebody else (like Gates) from the 53 man roster which wouldn't be difficult..

He literally missed the two lowest pressure kicks (first score of the game, and the "blew the game open" TD). It is definitely mental. It's just weird that it's the lowest pressure moments that get him.

Anyone think perhaps Mann is the issue as the holder?

im not sure if this is a thing, but maybe having a different holder every year plays into it.

never know

True, and Jake wouldn't throw him under the bus and say "Well, if the holder would just....". If it WAS the holder, Jake would have to tell Howie and Jeffry privately and get someone else to hold. Problem solved.

IIRC, didn't the announcers point out what a great job that Mann was doing on the holds during the field goals?  I'm no kicking expert, but I assume if Elliot has some sort of hold preference, it's something he could work on in practice with Mann and not go running Howie and Lurie.

He’s been bad. Trouble is who do you sign?  A you find a guy on the streets right now that is good? If they were any good why are they on the streets still?

I agree. There isn't a good replacement out there. He has been bad this year for sure. Hopefully he doesn't cost us a game. At least the SB will be in a dome if we get there.

You aren't pulling a better kicker off the street in the middle of January. It sucks but it is what it is. They need to bring someone in during the offseason though. We've just been lucky this hasn't cost us a game or games yet.

Should have been addressed weeks ago, too late now.

If we were more consistent in the RZ I would just say go for 2 points every time

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you. We all want another kicker at this point but if there was a decent one out there then he’d be on this team. Jake has been bad all year and his missed XPs yesterday very almost cost us big time yesterday.

I'm probably tend to hang onto loyalty to past deeds a little too long, but there comes a point where something has to either improve (Jake's accuracy/success rate), or change (cut him and get a new kicker).

IF he can fix whatever the problem is and get back to what he has been, that's what I greatly prefer. If he can't, then it's time to move on. It's already too late to do that right now. What we have, is what we live or die on for the 2024 season/post-season. The only way we should bring in a new kicker right now, is if Jake is hurt and we HAVE to. But I don't think there's a better kicker on the street. Maybe I'm wrong, I just don't think there is.

So Jake, I know you're reading this (because the EMB is THAT important), get it right, get it fixed! Before the NFCCG!!

Yeah, let's cut him before the NFCCG. Ignoring the fact that he kicked the game winning FG. Who is out there that is better. Does the kicker on the street boast a record of never missing a FG in the playoffs like Jake does. I'll wait for a name.

So I think there’s multiple facets to this.

To me I agree Jake should be given the offseason to fix things and come back ready to go next year. Bringing in another kicker in the offseason would probably be a good idea as competition.

Now that said I do think ideally they’d go and get another kicker to finish this year off. Jake is a liability and he can’t be trusted or relied upon and at some point that could cost us. But with that said they aren’t going to do that because 1) they will show loyalty in Jake and 2) realistically there probably isn’t a better option out there available right now.

I don’t think it’s about having a better option out there. You are right there isn’t a better option out there and so we have to stick with him. But that also doesn’t change that given these misses (an issue all year) he is a liability and ideally we’d find a better option.

Yeah, but here we are and the problem continues. Who knows? All I know is I don't trust Jake Elliot anymore, and it's scary. he used to be MONEY, but now he can't hit extra points- over and over and over.

Yes, he is a liability. But we have overcome that so far. Our QB is also a liability at times. We have to overcome him as well. They better find the passing game and quick.

I'll volunteer to do it. I kicked FGs when I played Middle School and High School Football. That was about 35 years ago. So, I may need some time to "get the rust off". 😃

I'm fine with him missing XP if he keeps nailing all his FGs.  Ultimately a lot has to go wrong for a couple missed XPs to be an issue at the end of the game like it was last night.  Missed FGs have a much bigger potential impact (it takes 3 missed XP to equal the lost points from a single missed FG).   That being said I do think the Eagles need to find a new kicker, but that's just because his season overall strongly suggests that.

He is not ok. Whatever it is or may be. Jake has to be seriously challenged next season. It's wayyy too late in the season to make a switch.

He's our kicker through this run. Just don't be surprised if one of these misses has bad consequences.

Wonder if Justin Tucker is busy next Sunday?

Hes been just as bad!

Crosby or Succop would be an improvement

He was for a stretch, but he seemed to get it back in recent weeks. I'd still borrow him if it were realistic.

All kickers go through a rough patch. Akers had several of them

Was always a big Akers fan. In large part because of how willing he was to make a hit on a return. I hate how his time ended.

I liked him after he kicked that one field goal or extra point .. cant remember but, he made it with a torn hamstring. Then mark siminou had to kick the rest lol

Yes, against the Raiders if I recall in 2005. I was at that game.

People remember the mistakes more than they remember the successes. I'm mad every time he misses one, but there are going to be some misses. Just to put things in perspective, he had his 2nd worst regular season FG% this year (77.8%). Had he just made 3 of those (8 misses) his percentage would be 86.1%. His career FG% is 84.8%. This year he had that long one that just fell short on that cold day. He had one blocked and he had a doink on a 57 yarder. He's 6-6 so far in the playoffs. I admit it's weird to miss 2 XP in a single game and 3 total in two consecutive games, but it's unlikely he will continue to miss extra points.

Honestly, it's just been an off ST year all-around for the Eagles.
