I mean they were no more costly than the illegal man down field penalty, the AJ Brown drop on the deep ball, the safety and the two sacks that took us out of field goal range. It's January football, we could be the 10 other teams who lost their shot or the 18 teams who never had a shot but we're still in the hunt and we have the best all round team. Let's not hang all the blame on two missed PAT's in a swirling wind snow bowl. He made the 9 other points when we needed them.

Thread should have ended after this.  ^^^

They're not gonna replace Elliott now.  One thing for sure, though, is the collective anxiety by Eagles fans if he has to kick a game winning FG or XP will be through the roof.

Unless he redeems himself this week and/or in the SB (should we make it), there will be a Kicker competition next summer for sure.

He could make 100% of his kicks from here on out, and there will still be a kicking competition next summer.  That is inevitable.  There's no way to tell if he can come back or not.  Kicking well for two games, even if they include the Super Bowl should not be an indication of anything.

Yeah there prob will be a competition regardless.  But if he performs well the rest of the way, he will be the favorite to retain the job...and may actually influence the level of competition brought in.  He's not in a complete funk, but rather a quasi-funk...which many kickers go through.  We'll see if he can work through it, we will need him to.

He has been clutch post season kicker for us. He has not missed a fg in 13 straight playoff games. I'm not sure what the f is wrong with his extra point tries though. Its so fricking nerve racking and annoying.

The Eagles are 4-0 in playoff games that Jake missed an extra point in.

He's missing on purpose.

someone finally agrees on this

He's got the yips.  Yips are hard to get rid of.  He needs mental therapy.  If he can't get rid of them, he will be gone next season.

I’ll say this… and look on Sunday I was in the camp of we should cut him. Firstly we all know we aren’t going to cut him and to be fair even if we did I don’t think we’d get an upgrade anyway… But in defense of Elliot he still hasn’t missed a playoff FG (or so least that’s what I’ve heard this week?).

People remember the mistakes more than they remember the successes. I'm mad every time he misses one, but there are going to be some misses. Just to put things in perspective, he had his 2nd worst regular season FG% this year (77.8%). Had he just made 3 of those (8 misses) his percentage would be 86.1%. His career FG% is 84.8%. This year he had that long one that just fell short on that cold day. He had one blocked and he had a doink on a 57 yarder. He's 6-6 so far in the playoffs. I admit it's weird to miss 2 XP in a single game and 3 total in two consecutive games, but it's unlikely he will continue to miss extra points.

Honestly, it's just been an off ST year all-around for the Eagles.

I also felt like his distance wasn't there this season. And the team also appears to believe that because I don't think they tried attempting as many kicks from 50+ this season.

Jake was perfect tonight.

He redeemed himself big-time tonight

Dude was technically 6 for 6 tonight cuz of the two false starts.

Got the bad ones out of the way in pre-game

It was great to see him hit back

Im a wee bit surprised. Not a single F  up from jake in the SB....

Give em another go for 2025???

He’s had a difficult season. But dude is clutch when we need him.

This idiot UK commentator said he didn’t have a strong leg.

The first FG after the penalty was looking iffy at first, but everything else was right down the middle. The 50 yarder was dead nuts and no doubt had the range.

This dude was just saving it all for when it mattered the most.  Bro was right down the middle on 99% of his kicks, only 1 was dicey and it was after that stupid penalty that should've been called against the Chiefs and not the Eagles.

Jake was Jake...no worries.

Actually 7 for 7. There were 3 false starts on fg's 🙂

He was locked in. I guess the rest of the season and post-season was practice for him.

Nailed all his kicks in the Super Bowl. Maybe he got his confidence back?

4/4 on FG attempts last night.  Long of 50.  Add in 2 x 48 yarders and a 43 yarder.  And people wanted to cut him.

You can't teach clutch, and clutch is not easily replaced.

I watched Jake with dread for much of this season on merit but he was awesome last night.

He was not just good. He was hitting most of his kicks and re-kicks exactly down the middle.
