If that is the case and what you are saying is true...Will he still be an Eagle? Or will he depart the way of White? I am ecstatic that he is playing for the Eagles on his rookie contract..but do we have enough cap space to make JC that highly paid??????

As long as Bradberry isn't re-signed we should have enough.

I think it’s safe to say he won’t be…

Yes - he will be 26 when his contract is up and he’s just the kind of elite young player the Eagles will pay.

We have him under contract for the next 3 years, but I suspect a long term extension will get done at the end of next year.

They'll get it done.  The Eagles know they have a generational type of talent with Carter - he's our 1st round pick - Howie will get it done.

Are you sure??? Hurts salary is escalating. On the other hand We will loose a lot of valuable players as free agents, so we just might have enough money to resign Hurts and JC at the same time, when the time comes,  and hope and pray that Howie can duplicate his draft magic to fill in the rest.

I was jokingly pointing out that we have a significant contract with a player that hasn't even been on the field this year. On a side note, it will be interesting to see (it's a bit confusing to me) the amount of cap space that may be refunded based on the insured amount of Bradberry's contract. Of course releasing him will also create dead cap for a year, but it should be less than it currently shows on contract sites when you factor in the insurance.

Hurts' salary will always be the most significant cap hit and that is normal for a franchise QB. Yes it increases yearly, as will the annual salary cap. His cap hit increases will undoubtedly be less than the yearly league cap increases, so by itself, the Hurts contract isn't going to inhibit our ability to extend other players. Ultimately the challenge comes in keeping a talented roster together with extensions when needed. Obviously we have one of the top O-Lines and 3 of the 5 are already on extensions making them some of the highest paid players at their respective positions. Our best bargain is Jurgens who is still playing on a rookie deal. We have two of the top paid WRs and one of the top paid RBs. On defense we currently have a lot invested in the secondary, but likely will be moving on from Bradberry and Slay. Carter's extension is still a ways away. So Slay and Bradberry will probably be off the books by then and when he does get his, the initial cap hits will be low due to the way Howie will structure it. He might be the "highest paid DT" when it gets done, but it won't be a burden on the cap right away.

I was joking..about a person repeating the Hype about JC being paid as high as a QB...Because...Because...Because.  We have a very talented roster, and it will always be a challenge to keep it together. Several years from now when JC,...Mitchell, Coop, and others will have to be resigned..it will be a challenge fiscally. So lets hope that Howie can duplicate success in the draft..and whatever happens this year...loose some of the highly paid players. I could go on...but that would require a separate post about players who fiscally are costing more than they are producing on the field.

Howie and crew will find a way. Outside of quarterback, defensive and offensive line are priority with this front office. I think they pay him even if they have to sacrifice somewhere else.

JC doesn’t need a contract for what 2-3 years? He’s in year 2 and we have the option of a 5th year because he was a first round pick. By the time we need to give him a contract Hurts will either no longer be here or more likely they’ll restructure his deal. No way he plays on those inflated back end numbers.

It won't, but if it ever did come down to a choice between Hurts and Carter, I say sianara Hurts

The way JC knocked out Washington's Center, with one punch. Ho Ho Ho was MMA worthy! JC is a beast.

He is a beast! But he also needs to keep himself in check. Kind of feel that at least one unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is inevitable against the Chiefs!

JC needs to go beyond beast and become the Leviathan on Superbowl Sunday to win.

Eagles are not just going against the Kansas City Thieves but also, the Refs, Taylor Swift, & the NFL...

Lets go birds...

As long as it is one punch knockout...I am OK with the penalty. LOL.

Just wanted to give some credit to Carter. Didn’t show up that much on the stat sheet, but disrupted the pocket all game long and took up their best 2 O-Lineman for a lot of the game.

Absolutely key to the D’s dominating showing.

He always makes a difference in every game. He also is emotionally immature. Someone needs to guide him so he doesn't develop a reputation of the next dirty player in the mold of Suh. He can by extremely aggressive but just stay within the rules. If he can do that, Canton will be watching him with great interest.

Suprised he didn’t get called for knocking Mahomes head off. He got hogtied, held, pushing in the back several times but was still impacting the game with his pressure.

He wanted it this year. How many times was he held in the Super Bowl and still out pressure on Mahomes?

You know what I actually thought when rewatching the game? He looks like he’s gotten in to really good shape and that’s a huge testament to him. There were concerns pre draft about him keeping in shape. There were concerns over his hunger for football. But he’s turned that around in a big way. DTs are quite often big dudes and whilst he’s not small he’s built differently to say a Cox or a Davis or even Suh.
