Eagles injury report: Updates on Jalen Hurts, Quinyon Mitchell, more

Jalen Hurts and Quinyon Mitchell both suffered injuries in Sunday's 28-22 win over the Rams.

By Dave Zangaro  Published January 22, 2025

Quarterback Jalen Hurts (knee) and cornerback Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder) both participated in Wednesday’s walkthrough and were officially limited on the first injury report of the week.

The Eagles injury report is an estimation based because they held a walkthrough:

Did not participate: TE Dallas Goedert (ankle), C Cam Jurgens (back)

Limited: WR AJ Brown (knee/rest), WR Britain Covey (neck), QB Jalen Hurts (knee), T Lane Johnson (knee/rest), CB Quinyon Mitchell (shoulder), OLB Josh Sweat (ankle/rest)

Full: QB Kenny Pickett (ribs), DT Byron Young (hamstring)

We’ll learn more about Goedert and Jurgens when the team holds a real practice on Thursday. If they’re not on the field at the Linc for practice, then it’s more notable.

Hurts and Mitchell both expect to play in the NFC Championship Game. Mitchell said there are no limitations on him despite being listed as limited to start the week.

Hurts in Sunday’s divisional round win suffered a left knee injury in the third quarter when his leg got caught under him awkwardly. While Hurts didn’t miss a single snap in the 28-22 win, his mobility was definitely limited in the fourth quarter.

It seems pretty obvious that Hurts is going to play in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday but it’s unclear how close to 100 percent he will be. The Eagles will have to account for the possibility that Hurts isn’t as mobile as usual on Sunday.

"Everything is always accounted for,” Sirianni said. "You try to account for everything. That's our job as coaches. When you get out there in the game, these guys have to make split-second decisions. And that's us as coaches, too. We have to make split-second decisions.

"So the prep that you’re doing all week tries to account for everything that you could encounter, from whether Jalen can go, run, or not, whether it's snowing, whether it's raining, whether it’s windy, whether they’ve got this player on the other side or that player on the other side, or you're without this player, or you’re without that player, how many times you’ve played the team.”

Mitchell injured his shoulder in the first quarter against the Rams. He was initially listed as questionable to return and was eventually ruled out. The rookie first-round pick has had a fantastic season.

In Mitchell’s place, the Eagles played veteran Isaiah Rodgers, who has been the backup outside cornerback all season and has played well.

I think both Hurts and Michell will play so there’s not much concern there. The concern with those 2 is how restricted they’ll be due to those injuries.

Jurgens and Goedert is a concern though! That was unexpected and hopefully is just a precaution. I guess today will be a big day.

Both Dallas and Cam have missed consecutive training sessions so far… Not great!

They moved Dickerson over to OC for yesterday's practice.  It's going to be a huge blow if Jurgens cannot go.

They did but then is that just standard? They had to practice so they needed someone at C? Or do you think if they were really confident Jurgens was going to play they would have brought someone else in at C to leave Dickerson at LG?

All good questions ... I don't have answers to any of them.

It could just be a matter of getting Dickerson some time there before the game in case Jurgens can't go (rather than go in cold with no play at the position since his Bama days).  Really hate shuffling the OL so much though - he and Mailata form a WALL for Barkley to run behind.  Can Kelce unretire for this game??

Dickerson said he practiced some at Center to 'knock the rust off'. Just in case.

Jurgens, from what I heard, practiced today, so that's good.

Q should be good to play. A shoulder bruise wont prevent him from running and covering any Wash WRs, I would think.

Thanks!  Goedert also practiced today and said he was playing this Sunday.

Hope they all can give enough to get past this game ... they'll have 2 weeks to rest up a bit and heal.

Celek drafted in 2007 ... turns 28 yrs old ... Howie drafts Ertz in the 2nd rd

Ertz drafted in 2013 ... turns 28 yrs old ... Howie drafts Goedert in the 2nd rd

Goedert drafted in 2018 ... just turned 30 ... ???

Seems like a typical Howie move to draft his successor this April (likely with a day 2 pick).

Agreed. Is it his 'softness'? His body type? I just wonder why he is always hurt.

He's pretty darn good when available, but man, he's not available a lot of times, it seems. Move on from him next season, if possible.

I saw in one of the other threads that if the coaches were confident Jurgens was going to play then they’d have kept Dickerson at LG and brought in a back up C. I get the logic of that and think that’s potentially it… But it could also be that they think Jurgens will be able to go but are worried he might have to come out of the game? So giving Dickerson reps at C probably is logical?

We may have to dress both Driscoll and Gates, 9 OLmen.  Jurgens may not be able to finish the game

Yesssh. That may affect the ST's, as OLine Men don't get ST reps. So the game day roster may be altered, I wonder.

Yeah I think that’s why Dickerson took reps at C. I think with that back injury there’s a really good chance that Jurgens either misses snaps or can’t finish the game.
