Eagles open up roster spot by waiving offensive lineman

The Eagles on Saturday afternoon opened a roster spot by waiving offensive lineman Kenyon Green.

They now have 52 on the active roster.

I wonder why they’ve opened up another spot?

Signed Patrick Johnson to the 53.

I guess Shipley's injury is not good...

Gave up a 5th and 6th. Wonder if he can play CB? Lol

Didn’t he tear his ACL? 😂 I know you were jesting. Although CJGJ with a significant injury is still better than Adoree.

This probably a true statement 😂

I don't think this is just to address KOR. I'll bet Shipley is going to miss some time with that rib injury (perhaps he hits IR to open the spot to add Bigsby ... Shipley could be brought back as early as week 6).

But then what do they do when Shipley can return (if that is indeed the way they go)? I guess by then maybe they feel AJ Dillon isn’t contributing quite enough? Though I thought he looked fine week one. I can’t see them cutting Bigsby at that point?

You'd have 4 weeks (minimum - perhaps he is shelved longer IF he is shelved at all) to let things sort themselves out. Another player could get injured and need a stint on IR. Maybe a player is completely stinking up the joint and they just cut him (Jackson??). Anyway, they'd have time to figure out what the best move is.

Bigsby might actually be a better option at CB than Jackson at this point 😂.

Ugh, I didn't even know that Shipley was injured. He's a player.

That Tank player looks pretty solid.

I saw that earlier ... just not completely buying it. I mean it could be true. Or Shipley may be shelved for a bit. Or perhaps they don't view Dillon as having much left. Or could just be a case of Howie finding and adding even more talent to an already talented roster. Guess we'll find out about Shipley (and Dillon) soon.

Tank better play some. They gave up 2 draft picks for him??

Why do they need 4 RBs?? Something is up.

Surprised to see the Eagles make a move for another back, but I feel like it was a good move. Now Howie needs to sucker a team into giving up a corner.

I’m not trying to be a mediocre player apologist in any way, but there are some things to consider here. I mean he drew Lamb most of the game. Not an easy task for most corners in the league let alone a guy like Jackson. Also with Carter out the run defense and the pass rush struggled. It’s not like Jackson was the only corner to struggle either. Bennett walked in and proceeded to give up a PI and Q wasn’t spectacular either. I still think they need to upgrade the position, but I just also think it was a tough spot for Jackson and the defense as a whole.

Probably bc they had 12 draft picks in next draft.

Could've just done the 5th, or a 6th that's conditional. He may need picks to trade for a corner, and next offseason to trade up in the draft for talent since they'll be picking at 32 again. :)

Sometimes he has a lot of picks and then trades them away for players (some that don't work out), then he has less picks and trades back on draft day to get more. He's done great lately but sometimes it feels like he makes trades just to make trades.

I don’t entirely disagree with you… But we know that Adoree has struggled in the NFL and so what we saw on Thursday night was in keeping what what we’ve seen before.

I don't doubt anything he does. He's earned the benefit of the doubt

There are years where he knocks it out of the park … and other years that fall short. So far this year the personnel moves seem to be more of the latter. I really like the addition of Smith and am not as down on the S group like some here, but CB2 is an issue. But on the flip side , I do get wanting to (and hoping like hell) that Ringo seizes the opportunity … they did cough up a 3rd rd pick to trade up for him a couple years ago. and he did try to address the position with an insurance policy. But just thinking there were probably better options than Jackson. Shoot man should have just let Slay play out the final year of his contract. He wanted to get younger because of what happened in 2018 but this seems like a case of over correction.

I think the draft was good. Just commenting on him trading several of next year's picks already. I like getting Bigsby tho.

Yeah the draft seemed solid. That was mostly an off topic response on this year’s free agent class and strategy overall lol
