March 11, 2025Mar 11 Author Note that players lost due to being released or traded do not count in the comp pick formula. We would only get comp picks for players that hit free agency (because their contracts expired) and sign elsewhere (and if those players qualify per the formula). So a player like Slay or Bradberry signing elsewhere won't result in a possible comp pick since they were both released. And therefore signing a player like Dre'Mont Jones also wouldn't impact the comp pick formula since he was released.
March 11, 2025Mar 11 They trade for him. He plays well. Let him walk over pennies. Get him back on a good deal. Has a good season, wins sb. Traded him. WTF howie planning on paying carter now? Why dump an under contract asset in CJGJ.
March 11, 2025Mar 11 I hate losing some of these players, but I still trust Howie (and most likely Fangio).

They've been on a youth movement for several years and knew these veterans would be gone. I still would have taken slay for one more year, especially with CJGJ gone now

It’s hard for us fans to see the big picture or the long term outlook (with regard to cap, etc). Plus many also tend to forget that the offseason is just beginning (shoot "officially” it hasn’t even begun yet … that starts tomorrow at 4pm). There is a full offseason to add to this roster. Fortunately we still have some excellent pieces on all levels of the defense … Carter, Davis, Smith, Baun, Mitchell, DeJean … Howie will fill the holes around that core.

Unless he comes back for less than 4 million what’s the point in cutting him? He has said he plans to retire after this coming season and wanted to finish with us. I’m surprised he didn’t go back to Detroit to try and win one there.

March 12, 2025Mar 12 I’m seeing posts…goedert for a 4th this year and a 1st next year…anyone else here this?

You aren't getting a first round pick for a 30 year old TE who's never started a full season of games, broken 900 yards receiving or been to a single pro bowl his entire career. The 49er's would probably take an offer like that for George Kittle, we'd be absolutely bark at the moon insane not to take it for Dallas Goedert.

His cap number for 2025 was only $3.7M and for 2026 was $4.7M. Those aren't ridiculously high cap numbers. It's quite possible he wore out his welcome here.

It was curious that he would argue with Slay after just winning the SB with him. Sure wasn't as big of a deal as some made it out to be but still unusual. Wonder what kind of things we don't know. But hey, for now it's a big loss. Lets hope Brown can take a big step forward. At least we got Reed. CJGJ even mentioned him specifically to get payed. So could be worse.

You're referring to a man who hasn't been able to stay with the same team going on five straight years now.
