I think it’s a good move. Georgia Bulldog: Joins former teammates Carter, Davis, Dean, Ringo, and dawgs on D. The Eagles made a move for an oft-injured Giants player in FA last year and it worked out pretty well.

Im excited about this signing.

I think he will feast here.

Giants free agent edge. 6 sacks in 11 games last year, 8 in his rookie year. Not great against the run but a needed pass rusher and great value at 1 year 4 million!

Uche isn't great against the run, either.  That probably explains why AR didn't dress him against Barkley and the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

And that’s why I kind of feel like one of Uche or Huff won’t be on the roster. Because Olujari isn’t great against the run so that’s 3 guys that are very much situational pass rushers at this point.

Uche is on a $1.75M contract ... Huff $51.1M.  In the unlikely event we are able to trade Huff, I think that answer is fairly obvious.  But we'll have to see how they both play during the camps and pre-season - either or both may surprise and we may see both on the roster come September.

Once again, I think people are presuming we signed Uche to be an edge rusher, much like we did after signing Baun last season. Fangio may view him as a tweener that so far has been used improperly in the NFL --- one whose size and skillset may be better suited as an off-ball LB in his defense. Think about it ... we lost Burks in free agency and may have to wait a while for BVS and Dean to finish their rehab. We haven't signed anybody else at LB and the only other two currently on the roster are Trotter Jr. and Dallas Gant.

I believe we are going to see Uche getting reps early as an off-ball LB. FWIW, the Eagles site has Nolan Smith, Hunt, and Ojulari listed as OLB and Uche, Baun, Trotter, and Dean as LB.

I think you are spot on.  I agree that Fangio may strongly believe Uche has been used improperly and sees an opportunity to get the most out of his skillset and speed.

I thought the exact thing when I saw he was signed

While that is interesting...forget the Baun home run for a second...for every edge that converts into a serviceable off ball LB, there are probably 9 others that cannot adjust to the reads and coverage, even if they have the physical specs for it.

So why take that gamble when we've got 2 quality starters already and just need some short-term help?

And if they are all listed as OLB...I wonder who is actually putting a hand in the dirt and doing Sweat's job.

As of right now, Huff is the hand in the dirt guy. He was much more effective that way than standing up last year.

I'm not saying Uche would have a guaranteed breakout season with a change to off-ball LB. I'm suggesting that Fangio may want to take a good look at him there and see if such a change would work like it did with Baun. Baun had more prior experience in college, but I did see some highlights from college where Uche was off-ball. So it wouldn't be completely new. Uche is a very effective pass rusher, despite being a little short. But that may allow him to be a tremendous blitzer. But to make the change, he would have to show he could cover as well. I think it's likely we see Uche off-ball early in OTAs and camp. If it looks like it may work out, they'll probably keep him there at least until we have more answers there. If it looks like it isn't working, he would compete at OLB.

Fangio loves versatility, so we'll just have to wait and see what he does with Uche.

Thank you, @SkippyX for getting it.

Tough room.

Details of Ojulari's contract are now available on OTC (see info at the link).  He got a $1M signing bonus, $2M salary for 2025 and $500K in bonuses likely to be earned.  Since Ojulari's agent characterized it as a $4M contract, I suspect there are also $500K in bonuses that are considered (and probably are) unlikely to be earned.

That values the contract at $3.5M APY, putting at at 1355 APY points, plus 40 points for his 40.2 snap percentage last year, for total compensation points of 1395.  As predicted, that values at a 7th round comp pick level, so the contract will offset the 6th round compensatory pick they could have gotten from the Rodgers signing.  In theory, other free agents contracts could get signed between now and April 28th that could slide Ojulari's contract down sufficiently so that it would not qualify (thus restoring that 6th round compensatory pick for Rodgers), but it would apparently take at least 43 higher contracts to be signed, and I do not think it is reasonable to think that might happen.

Good call ... would make quite a bit of sense.  Uche could be the 2025 version of Burks.

For some strange reason they don’t have Fred Johnson listed as a player lost.
