Ah the annual Lane Johnson restructuring. Mind you it hasn’t actually saved us any cap space? I mean what! Come on Howie.

This wasn't a restructuring to free up cap space.  It was a 1 year extension but more so this was a reward in much the same way they did for Barkley.

It also ties up the man who arguably is the most important player on the roster for another year.

I pretty sure that cap space , was one of the points of extension.

The restructuring likely provides immediate cap relief for the Eagles. By converting portions of Johnson’s 2025 base salary into guaranteed money and extending the contract length, Philadelphia can spread out his cap hit, creating financial flexibility for other roster moves.

I imagine this may be Lane's last contract. He'll be 37 by the end of it.

The yearly Lane restructuring. The dead cap years must be crazy now.

It was probably to push the fake void year/s out further by extending him and converting to signing bonus. Keeps them in a good spot this year and next. Eagles some of these guys retire the eagles are going to be in a rough spot for a couple years. But they did that after the Wentz contract and recovered in 1-2 seasons.

As long as Howie continues to be savvy in free agency and the draft continues to hit well they will be able to weather that storm when it hits in 3-5 years.

I hope you're wrong.  I could see Johnson playing even later.  He is quietly the MVP of the team in the background.  He will be very difficult to replace.

Agreed. But then again the same was said about JP..

Do the Eagles ever come out publicly and tell us WHY they do these contracts re--structures??

I mean, they are not obligated to tell us. I just wonder if they can share the plan they have for now, and for going forward. Would be curious to know. 🦅
