Interview from the owners meetings are now in our rearview mirror. We can turn our attention back to something important, the NFL Draft. I’m tired of hearing about the tush push. I want to talk about draft prospects.

We found out about a couple of more 30 visits.

OG Dylan Fairchild – Georgia – 6-5, 318

Fairchild started 24 games at LG for the Dawgs. He has good size. Okay athlete, but nothing special. Good pass protector. He’s got a real nasty streak and likes to really get after defenders when he’s got the chance.

Fairchild is a Day 3 prospect. He has the size and ability to develop into a starter. I do find it interesting that the Eagles are showing such interest in a pure OG. They already have quite a few OGs on the roster.

  • Landon Dickerson
  • Tyler Steen
  • Kenyon Green
  • Matt Pryor
  • Trevor Keegan

Maybe the Eagles project Pryor back to OT. I think his best football came at RG. Steen played OT in college and could always move there as well. Aside from Dickerson, none of these guys is a sure thing so I get looking for more help. It just feels like Fairchild would be another mid-level prospect to add to the group.

I can see where Nick Sirianni and Jeff Stoutland like him based on these two quotes.

"I don’t fear competition, I’m from the University of Georgia.”

"You can’t eat an elephant all at once. You got to eat it one bite at a time.”

Those are great quotes from a college football player. At the very least, he’s a really interesting dude.

DT Shemar Turner – Texas A&M – 6-3, 290

Turner is an athletic, versatile DL. He lined up all over the line and was disruptive from each spot. He has long arms and uses them well when trying to get past blockers. Turner has a good motor. He has the skill set to fit in well in Vic Fangio’s scheme.

Yeah, that’s not good. This is why you bring a guy like Turner to your facility. You want to talk to him and hear his side of things. That’s helps you decide if he’s a player you want or not. There is no question about Turner’s potential. He might remind you of Milton Williams (6-3, 284). Both were athletic DL who lined up in multiple spots and made plays. Turner finished his career with 22.5 TFLs, 10 sacks and 3 FF.

Turner had a good showing at his Pro Day. He did have surgery on his leg after the season. The Eagles might also be checking him out medically to make sure they’re good with that side of things. Turner will probably be a Day 2 pick.

One player I think the Eagles would have interest in is OT Chase Lundt from UConn. We haven’t heard anything about him with the Eagles yet. He is a great run blocker with a big frame and good athletic ability. He needs work, but could develop into a starting OT.

Fun guy to watch.
