Exactly.

But when did Haynesworth "get it?"

If Davis is actually maturing, he's already surpassed Haynesworth.

Through 3 games, Davis has been one of our best players. I hope we can extend him too.

Pay the man.

I think there's a tough off season coming up, if Davis keeps on as he's started the season he isn't going to take a cheap deal, he's going to want somewhere around 20million per is my guess, I don't know as I can see Howie tying up $50+million a year on DT's

Lurie and Howie are gonna have to get kawhi leonard type creative...

Looks like the Rams have their own problem with backup O-Lineman. Their backup RG, #50, got abused 2x by JD. Once on the 4th down stop and again on the FG block.

Great so far. I would expect the team wants to evaluate him through the entirety of the season and see how his conditioning holds up. I don't know the financial aspect enough to know if it's feasible to pay both DTs with big contracts, but if anyone can make it work it's Howie. I think Davis is the type of player that would take less to stay here the way Smitty and Baun did. I think he wants to be here and I don't think he's a guy that just wants a big payday.

He has been a big improver whereas Carter has taken a step back (still really good, but currently not close to being in the DPOY discussion that his talent should allow)

The offseason work has paid off hugely for Davis, but it will be difficult to pay both him and Carter.

Only doubt is why did it take him till the last year of his rookie contract to get in shape and play to his potential.

Is this going to turn into an Albert Haynesworth type situation, as once he signs the big contract go back to the Jordan Davis of yesteryears ?

His 5th year option was already picked up before mini camps or training camp started. So next season is his last year of his contract.

Jordan Davis be like 😂😂

The reality is he was drafted because of his physical potential and not because of mastery of technique. In other words, he was an unpolished project that virtually every NFL scout knew would take some time. It's not really all that uncommon for DTs to start breaking out around year 4 in the NFL.

I understand that fans rarely display patience with players and create expectations where if you aren't a star on day one, then you are a disappointment. There's a reason why rookie contracts are 4 years and 1st round picks get a 5th year option.

I posted earlier I felt the same way. But he is really maturing and playing very well, and he looks like a different player. Getting into better shape unlocks potential, apparently.

You can’t give Jordan Davis $35 million and Carter $40, can you?

Talk about being overcome by events.

He's been working on his conditioning since he was drafted. Not everyone has instant results, it can take time.
