Is it shocking that Sanders was not taken by anyone in the first three rounds of the NFL draft?

On X/Twitter, there are now those who believe NFL owners colluded to make sure Sanders was not chosen at all. You have to wonder if some GMs and coaches fear they would be replaced next season by DEION if they took his son.

Or he just isnt good ... Which he isnt he is viewed as a back up.. Why would the owners care? And why would the GMs fear it? If he was any good they would take him what the F do they care if they have to replace a coach

Sanders was sacked 94 times over his last two college seasons. There also were worries about his arm strength and questions about how well he would adapt to playing for someone other than his father. And given his high profile, teams may be reluctant to pick him if they view him as a backup.

I read that he interviewed horribly and came off as entitled. Of course, you never know what to believe.

If he doesn't get drafted at all, that would be shocking.

Don't be surprised if he ends up being backup for a team with an established top 10 QB already on the roster. (Ravens, Bengals, Bills, Eagles, Chiefs, Rams, Et al.)

Is it really shocking? I don't follow college football at all, so I have no idea if he's actually any good or if he's just living on his father's name.

He doesn't have elite arm strength. And he can't run like Hurts and Jackson. So, right off the bat, his skills are limited. But if you watch game film, he's pretty good. He looks like he can be an NFL QB. He's probably better than many of the QBs that were drafted ahead of him.

It's got to be his attitude and persona. Plus, the media circus that comes with the package.

I just can't imagine him not being drafted at all. That would be ridiculous.

I'm thinking that his father's big mouth is probably hurting him too. But that's just an uninformed opinion, and I'll admit that I've never liked his father. Right from the moment he was drafted himself... when was that, '89? If I'm remembering correctly, I was at Fort Hood, so that would be sometime between 88 and 90.

Yeah, absolutely. Especially with all those comments Dione made. Not wanting him to play for the Giants, not wanting him to play for a cold-weather team, blah, blah, blah...

GMs and head coaches just don't want to deal with that...

That's much more realistic. The pundits overestimated him.

I mean at this point the NFL has spoken right? Teams just were not high on him. And now it’s at a point where drafting him will be such a big distraction potentially… So there’s a chance that he goes undrafted now. Though I do think a team will pick him up in the 4th or 5th round.

I'm sure this won't happen, but it would be entertaining to see him go undrafted.

Halfway through the 4th round and he's still there. Does he go to the Steelers at Pick 21? Does he drop to the 5th?

Just about in the 5th round now.

Fitting that the Browns finally took him. Johnny Maziel redux.

Dude is ass

I wonder if he dropped because his dad is the ultimate helicopter parent. Shedur has only had his dad as his coach, and I can see Deion trying to still coach his son while he's on the Browns. Then if the Browns step in to stop them, he plays the Hall of Famer card.

  • Deion previously said he would pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play for teams they don't approve of

  • Shedeur said in a recorded press conference/interview that he is the franchise player and would dictate changes to the team including coach

  • Various reports have been out about him not studying the play packages that were given to him and showing up to team interviews not prepared

  • One team said he took a personal facetime call during an NFL interview and stayed on

  • Various reports of him being selfish, not a good teammate, etc. plus the baggage of the circus with his Dad.

  • Also, he's not that good of a player. If he were a great prospect, some team would have taken him earlier. The Saints and Browns need a QB and both are mocked for being dysfunctional so those distractions wouldn't bother them if his talent made it worth it.

The Browns draft room didn't look happy, many speculate the owner told them to take him and they didn't actually want him, as they had already drafted a QB in a higher round.

Is he? How much of it was Travis Hunter covering up his mistakes? There isn't a whole lot of college tape on him without Travis Hunter on the field and his father coaching from the sidelines.

Nevertheless, the Browns QB room is shaping up to be pretty interesting in training camp: veteran Joe Flacco (tall, strong arm, but no running skills), the immortal Kenny Pickett (meh), fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, and Sanders. If they're right about Shedeur's talent and pedigree, then he should have no problem beating out Gabriel in training camp and landing a roster spot. The Browns could even jettison one of the veterans so there's room for Shedeur to take over the offense during next season.

Yeah I think the Browns QB room battle could be quite an interesting one. Shedeur is going to be one to watch because I think he does have potential and talent. Flacco still has enough about him to be a starter for a average to poor team in the NFL and Pickett still wants to be a starter in the league. It should be a fun watch during TC and during the season for sure.

A Browns QB battle fun to watch?? With that group? On a team where QBs go to die? No thanks they can continue to suck ass in that department

Didn’t say it will be good? Didn’t say that it’ll be a successful outcome for the Browns… Just that it’ll be interesting and kind of fun to see how it all plays out.

Oh I think it certainly could be a train wreck… but it’ll be entertaining to see it unfold.

After he fell out of the 4th round, I was thinking that he wasn't getting drafted at all. Strange pick by the Browns.
