There are 10 open roster spots to fill with undrafted free agents after having added 10 players through the draft. Six of those spots have been filled - we add others as they are announced (or as changes are made).

Montrell Johnson, RB, Florida: Johnson (6-0, 212) rushed for over 2,200 yards in his three seasons and Florida and averaged 5.5 yards per carry. Caught 55 passes at Florida. Missed some time in 2024 with a knee injury. (Greg Auman)

Brandon Johnson, S, Oregon: Johnson (5-9, 179) started eight games for the Ducks in 2024 and 45 tackles, 4 1/2 tackles for loss and an interception. Previously played at Duke. (Ryan Fowler

Maxen Hook, S, Toledo: Hook (6-0, 201) started 43 games at Toledo and was a three-time All-MAC safety with 7 INTs over his last three seasons. (Toledo)

Lance Dixon, LB, Toledo: Dixon (6-2, 233) had 46 tackles and 6 TFLs in 2024. He previously played at West Virginia and Penn State. (Toledo)

ShunDerrick Powell, RB, Central Arkansas: Powell (5-7, 183) is obviously undersized but rushed for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024. He also caught 36 passes for another 318 yards and 3 touchdowns. He’s super explosive but small. (Central Arkansas)

Hollin Pierce, OL, Rutgers: The 24-year-old Pierce (6-8, 341) is a massive tackle who started a ton of games on both sides of the line for Rutgers. He has an 88-inch wingspan! (Bobby Deren)

Taylor Morin, WR, Wake Forest: Morin (5-11, 185) is the all-time leading receiver at Wake Forest with nearly 3,000 yards. But he’s notably a good punt returner who averaged 10.6 in his career with an impressive 17.0 average on 14 returns in 2024. (Wake Forest

BJ Mayes, CB, Texas A&M: Mayes is a slot corner prospect who played for Incarnate Word in 2022, AUB in 2023, and Texas A&M in 2024. He got hands on footballs at all three stops.

• 2022: 1 INT, 11 PBUs
• 2023: 2 INTs, 10 PBUs
• 2024: 4 INTs, 5 PBUs

In a big win over LSU in 2024, he picked off projected 2025 first-round QB Garrett Nussmeier twice. The Eagles headed into the 2025 draft with no slot corner backup behind Cooper DeJean. They selected Mac McWiliams in the fifth round, and Mayes will have a chance to compete as well.

WR Darius Cooper – Tarleton State – 5-11, 213

Dominant player at the FCS level. Led the FCS in receiving yards. Has good body control and can make some tough catches. Ran 4.49 at his Pro Day, but I don’t think you see that speed on tape. Has a strong, thick build.

Glad you started this thread T2R. I'm excited about Hollin Pierce. He reminds me of Mekhi Becton.

Hook has a chance to make the team. Brown isn't an NFL safety last we saw him. I would think Hooker will be better but I imagine Brown's 3rd round draft pedigree may save him one more year.

Added Morin and Mayes.

Looks like Q getting in their ear or they saw great tape. 2 toledo pick ups

RB Montrell Johnson – Florida – 5-11, 212

Ran 4.41 at the Combine. Ran for 3,089 yards and 33 TDs. Averaged 5.4 yards per carry for his career. Caught 61 passes. One-cut runner who wants to get downhill. Good speed. Not overly elusive. Has good power and will break tackles. His speed and running style make him a good fit for the Eagles offense. Broke multiple long runs over the past three seasons.

Johnson has NFL ability. He is a good fit for the Eagles offense. I think he’s got a legit chance to earn a spot on the practice squad.

DB Brandon Johnson – Oregon – 5-9, 179

Johnson was a 2-year starter at nickel for Duke and then transferred to Oregon last season. He was the nickel for them. Johnson broke up 6 passes and picked one off. He is small, even for a nickel, but did run 4.40 at his Pro Day. Johnson played in the box in some sets and was tougher than you might expect. I think the Eagles will project him at nickel, but he could also try at safety. I just think he’s small for that spot. Another long shot.

S Maxen Hook – Toledo – 6-1, 201

Led the Rockets in tackles. Had 2 INTs, 4 PBUs and a FF. 43 career starts. Highly productive. 22 PDs, 7 INTs. Has good hands. Smart player. Reads plays well and makes good decisions. Might reminds you a bit of Eric Weddle with his playing style. Playmaker. Solid hitter, good tackler. Has good range. Takes good angles to the ball. Can play centerfield or come down and stuff a RB on a goal line run up the middle. There isn’t anything special about Hook, but he’s just a good, instinctive player. I had him rated as a draftable player.

I think Hook has the size, skills and talent to make a serious push for a roster spot. He has the versatility the Eagles like in their DBs. I’m excited to see what he can do.

LB Lance Dixon – Toledo – 6-2, 224

Ran 4.58 at his Pro Day. Good playmaker. Had 6 TFLs, 2 sacks, 4 PBUs, and 2 FF. Began his career at Penn State. Transferred to West Va and finally Toledo. Started two games in 2024. He was a 5-star prospect out of high school and posted good numbers at his Pro Day. Has some coverage ability. Toledo played him in space in some sets. Runs well. Inconsistent tackler. Run defense needs work. Effort is there, but technique must be better. Long shot to make the roster, but does have NFL athleticism.

RB ShunDerrick Powell – Central Arkansas – 5-7, 183

Ran 4.40 at his Pro Day and boy do you see that on tape. Powell ran for 1,343 yards last season, averaging more than 8 yards per carry. Explosive runner. If you’re small, you better be fast and Powell is.

While Powell is small, he doesn’t go down on first contact. He keeps his balance and runs hard. He has some KOR experience. It will be interesting to see if his speed shows up in Training Camp. That has to happen if he’s got any shot at the roster or practice squad.

OT Hollin Pierce – Rutgers – 6-8, 341

Had 50 career starts. Massive LT. Too much of a waist bender. He’s got potential. His kick slide is okay and his size is outstanding. The problem is that he plays too high. That gets him off balance and neutralizes some of his power. Has super long arms to go with his massive frame. Weighed 450 pounds in high school so he worked himself into much better shape while at Rutgers.

Pierce is exactly the kind of big, high-upside prospect you want to give Jeff Stoutland. Odds are that Pierce won’t pan out, but if any coach can figure out how to turn him into an NFL player it is Stoutland. Fascinating player. I’m shocked that no OL needy team took a flier on him due to his size and length.

WR Taylor Morin – Wake Forest – 5-10, 188

Highly productive slot receiver and return specialist. Holds the record for the most receiving yards in a career at Wake Forest with 2,974. His 21 receiving touchdowns in his career ranks tied for fourth in program history. Ranks second all-time in career receptions with 227, only two catches shy of the program record. Ranks second all-time in career punt return yards in program history with 809.

Good Pro Day: 4.49 in the 40, 37 VJ, 6.70 in the SS. That shows speed, agility and explosion. You see that athleticism when you watch him play.

Morin is the classic slot receiver. He does a great job of working the middle of the field. He’s comfortable playing in traffic. Has the skills to get open with quick cuts. Good hands. Outstanding with the ball in his hands, as a receiver or returner. He’s both elusive and fast. Morin will compete with Ainias Smith and Avery Williams for a spot as the RS and role player on offense.

CB B.J. Mayes – Texas A&M – 6-1, 187

The Eagles like speedy corners. Mayes only runs 4.54, so he’s not ideally their type of corner. He played the slot for the Aggies so you can get away with mediocre speed inside. He does have quick feet. Mayes played at two other schools before A&M. He had 4 INTs in 2024 and finished with 7 in his career. He’s got some pop when he hits. Feels like he will be a long shot to push for a roster spot.

The Eagles brought in Darius Lassiter (WR - BYU) as an UDFA, also. He’s got some highlight reel catches and seems to run good routes. Slow 40 probably kept him from getting drafted.

I'm a bit shocked we have not brought in any TEs

Holy crap, just watched the only game film I could find for Darius Cooper, the FCS playoff game against South Dakota St. and man oh man Cooper looks like a literal man against boys out there. If any one of our UDFA has a shot to make the team, my money is on him.

Lassiter signed with the Jags.

Sometimes people confuse "invited to rookie camp" with "signed." Some of these players will get multiple invites unless they actually sign with a team.

No worries man ... I was only posting signings. My schedule has been hectic lately so I do miss stuff now and then, so it's cool when others contribute info I miss.

I saw a report of Delaware Valley WR Nahsir Morgan also having been invited.

I’ve asked Chris Mc Pherson to send me the 2025 Media Guide link for the rookie camp attendees once it is ready. He has done that for me for the past few seasons.

Out of all these players listed above, Hook has the best chance to make the roster. And barring injuries in TC, he would very likely be the only UDFA to make it this year.

Moten's dad was drafted by the Eagles

How many players are allowed at this point of the season? The draftees, UDFAs, trial-out players, all add up. The vets already on the roster and IR players too.

Allowed 90 players on the roster. The rookie minicamp invites do not count as they are not signed.

Prediction:

Maxen Hook makes the team, Montrell Johnson, Hollin Pierce, and Taylor Morin make the practice squad.

91 with the International Development player.
