Dave Zangaro published an early prediction of the Eagles' 53-man roster. It is early, but it's not that early when you think about it...

I agree with a lot of it, but I think they'll keep more than two 2 TEs. I doubt Bryce Huff gets cut, too...

Here is a summary:

  • QB (3): Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, Kyle McCord

  • Running back (3): Saquon Barkley, AJ Dillon, Will Shipley

  • Fullback (1): Ben VanSumeren

  • Receiver (5): A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith

  • Tight end (2): Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra

  • Offensive line (10): Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Kenyon Green, Trevor Keegan, Drew Kendall, Myles Hinton, Kendall Lamm

  • Defensive tackle (5): Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, Thomas Booker IV

  • Edge (6): Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Azeez Ojulari, Josh Uche, Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Patrick Johnson

  • Linebacker (4): Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr.

  • Cornerback (6): Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo, Adoree’ Jackson, Mac McWilliams, Eli Ricks

  • Safety (4): Reed Blankenship, Andrew Mukuba, Sydney Brown, Tristin McCollum

  • Specialists (4): Jake Elliott, Braden Mann, Charley Hughlett, Avery Williams

nonono

I made a contest for this

Ainias Smith and Avery Williams are pretty much the same player. Don't see them keeping both. Don't see them keeping both Green and Keegan. Both are guards only. I would add in either Pryor or Williams or both if they cut either Green or Keegan and keep 11 OL. I would add Huff over Uche or Patrick Johnson. Seems the main roster spot battle will be on the OL.

I think there's another offensive lineman and either Smith or VanSummeran end up on the practice squad.

"Safety (4): Reed Blankenship, Justin Simmons, Andrew Mukuba, Sydney Brown, Tristen Mccullom"

You know that TATE's heart throb Justin Simmons signed with Green Bay 3 year deal, right?

Do you mean former Giant Isiah Simmons? Come on bro...you think safety who will be 32 by season's end would ever get a 3 year deal? Try again.

Shipley out, Montrell Johnson in.

He might be placed on phantom IR

He needs practice reps, and players on IR are not allowed to practice. He will be # 52 or #53 on the roster.

I agree with Johnson in, but expect it will be Ben VanSumeren who is out.

So, looks like we retain 9 draft picks and stash the 10th on the practice squad for development...after 8 draftees made the roster last season...pretty, pretty good.

We've also been lucky developing a few UDFA signings (Jenkins, McCullem, Ricks, Blankenship) and roster cuts from othet teams (Kinnard) each season.

We have 7 holdovers from 2024 with expiring contracts at present, alongwith any one year "prove its" that make the current roster.

How many rookies do you suppose we can realistically absorb in 2026?

As an aside, do you think we will be in the market for any freeagents next season?

That works for me, I hope they have enough sense to see what they have.

I doubt it. They'll probably do something stupid like last year and feature Barkley all the way to another Lombardi Trophy. It sucks when you are stuck with the league's best RB and you can't keep every fringe NFL prospect on your 53 man roster.
