I know this is off-topic (but related in my mind), but my lifetime ban from the campus where I went to college actually only ended up being a 6-year ban.

It’s kind of a long story, but the assistant Dean had an axe to grind because of an adversarial relationship that arose while my fraternity was under sanctions and put before a number of hearing boards.

On an alumni weekend he hassled me about breaking a non-existent rule, made some vague statement about not wanting to see me around the rest of the day and then later in the night had me arrested and removed from the campus and charged with criminal trespass.

I went to court with the college to fight the charges, and won the case while helping my lawyer embarrass the assistant Dean on the stand in front of the college president.

3 weeks later I got a letter that I was banned from campus for life. 6 years after that the assistant Dean was long gone and the college had a new president and I wrote a letter requesting reinstatement so that I could take my team to compete in a math competition there. I was reinstated 3 days later.

I definitely wanted to touch the assistant Dean inappropriately- assuming that it would be considered inappropriate to punch someone in the jaw.
