It's why the only thing that ever matters in US politics is the left's reaction to that thing. The right's reaction to every single thing is baked in. Trump = good. Democrats = bad. The Dems reaction is the only variable. Sometimes, the thing is too far for the Dems (Biden's debate) and that thing has a real effect on political support.

Thankfully, the left seems to be coming around on this. Graham Platner's a good example. Dude was found to have an old Nootsie tattoo, which is obviously pretty F'd up, but he's still leading in the Dem primary race. If Dem voters don't care about whatever the outrage de jour is then Reps are F'd for the foreseeable future.

It's a funny clip. Yes the tweet took it out of context in their quote, I saw another tweet reference it comparing it to Michael Scott. I watched the video, thought it was funny. He said he's like you, a low SAT score and he can't read a speech. Pandering to say he's dumb I guess. Just a silly clip.

Disagree. I've let little stupid ish go, like him putting his name on the Kennedy center, putting himself on the board, hanging a big banner of himself from the DOJ building. Jeebus the other night he was talking about giving himself the CMH. I didn't even mention it because I'm numb to it at this point.

The big issues are the Epstein files, killing Americans (one of whom was killed simply for legally carrying a gun something I think you of all people would care about), his disastrous foreign policy (almost going to war with our allies over Greenland was kind of a big deal), the open corruption (the crypto scam and taking a private jet from a terrorist friendly regime would be a much bigger deal if it were anyone else), and the first amendment infringements. Not to mention his desperate attempt to not lsoe the mid terms. All of these are important issues

The issue is simple framing.
The US electorate doesn't follow politics enough to know all the details and time and again they have shown that they vote on vibes.
You need to pick something, and then box the other candidate into a corner on that. It's all about framing.

The Harris campaign should have come out swinging and kept referring to Trump as "Duma-- Donnie" over and over, and ran ads of Trump bishing about nothing and overlay it with crying baby sound effects, and at the end the voice over says we need a leader, not another crybaby. Stupid ish like that.

Instead, halfway through they brought in a bunch of Obama people who went with the "when they go low, we go high" nonsense.

Yeah the Obama people still ran the campaign like it was 2008. They also never responded to this ad which absolutely killed them. Saying she wouldn't do anything different than Biden and refusing to do the podcast circuit was a killer as well.

Also, you're flat wrong about real political strategy. Dems cried about everything Trump did and said in 2018 and 2020 and took him to the cleaners in both elections. Even when he was out of power, they over-performed in 2022. Obviously '24 was a sheetshow but all signs point to them trouncing Republicans in 9 months. If it's a failed strategy then why has it worked so well in 3 of the last 4 elections?
