Thanks guys. Using the tips you provided I was able to talk the dealership down so far that the general manager was cussing me as I drove off.

Your pre-approval means nothing.

Know if you have a direct offer.

Know the rebates that are possible.

Don’t expect thousands off of the online price on a new car. They lied about the price they can get to get you to come in.

If it seems like your sales person doesn’t give a f he isn’t making any money on the car.

They were only offering financing deals, and we wanted to pay cash. We had special ordered the car during a promotion which ended before the car delivered, and they told us it was no longer eligible, here's a few thousand off MSRP. We said no. They said hey, wait, it turns out the Regional corporate reps are upstairs for their quaterly visit, let us go talk to them. They came back 20 minutes later, gave us the old promotion and more, and sold it for $2000 less than we told them we were willing to pay. I'm taking that as a win.

All regular cars are eligible for the rebates at the time of your order. I can’t tell you how many cars I’ve ordered and gotten the rebates at the time of the order.

I kept my car that I've owned for 1yr (I think its at 3 years since original delivery was taken) and changed the registration/plates over to NY ($202, good for 2 years) this past Friday when I was visiting family back in NY, instead of paying the $820+ one year Registration renewal in MN.
