Starting RG

Tyler Steen, Matt Pryor, Kenyon Green

I just don't see it with Steen. I think he is way better suited to play RT. I also don't think that Stoutland is overly high on him either. Call me crazy but I think Pryor wins the job and playing between Jurgens and Lane I think he will be more than adequate.

Number 2 RB

Will Shipley, AJ Dillon

I think it's as simple as this: If Dillon is healthy he is the number 2 back. If not it's Shipley. I expect them to both have a role though and if Saquon were to miss time they would split the job.

Number 4-6 WR's

Johnny Wilson, Ainais Smith, Terrace Marshall, Danny Gray, etc

I think they end up keeping 5. This is just a total hunch but I think one of the two 2024 draft picks make the team as the 5th WR, one doesn't, and Marshall ends up as the 4th WR. They will probably have a couple of guys on the PS and I'm not sure anyone is going to claim Smith/Wilson if they are waived,

Starting S opposite Reed

Sydney Brown, Tristan McCollum, Andrew Mukuba

Drafting Mukuba as early as they did tells me two things: one they don't like the other safeties all that much, and two they really liked Mukuba. I think Mukuba wins the job and starts week one against Dallas. Brown and McCollum are the 3rd and 4th safeties. I also want to point that Maxen Hook is really interesting and I could see him pushing for that 4th spot and at the very least be a PS option.

LB spot opposite Baun (until Dean is healthy)

Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr.

So long as Campbell is healthy I don't see this as much of a competition. If he isn't, I would guess the year of experience that Trotter has would give him the nod and either way he is the 3rd off ball LB until Dean is back.

Starting edge rusher spot

Azeez Ojulari, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche

I will go with Ojulari who has proven he can be a productive starting edge rusher in this league. Hunt is the 3rd guy, and Uche may or may not make the team. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a shoe to drop here, possibly a big one as ideally they would someone better and more proven starting and Ojulari/Hunt as the 3rd and 4th guys.

Calling it now.

Hurts wins the starting QB job.

He got paid … he’s done. Guess you don’t get that memo. whistle

Hurts training camp stats in 2024 vs 2025. ESP will be losing sleep over tracking all the stats!

T-1000. Goor read, thanks.

RG - not so sure. Steen graded out very well on PFF whenever he played. On the other hand Pryor has the size Stoutland likes. Having said that - maybbe we'll both be surprised and Green resurects his career.

#2 RB - agree completely. i'll be intersted to see which of the others ends up on the practice squad, and I'm leaning Montrell johnson.

#4-6 WR's - I think Marshall will be on the 53, leavubg Gray, A Smith, and Wilson to battle for a slot. Alot depends on how serious they are about Avery Williams as a return specialist. If you pushed me for an answer - #4 Marshall, #5 Wilson. Williams on the squad as a RS and both Gray and A Smith on the PS

S - i just don't think "want to" is enough which sits Sidney Brown. I don't think it's close between Mukuba and McCollough - the 2nd round draft pdeigree wins out.

LB - You got it. If Campbell is recovered, he starts. If not it'll be Trotter. One argument I might have with you is that Campbell just might "Wally Pipp" Nakobe Dean.

Edge - Inless Ojulari or Uche shred it in camp it's Hunt's job.

Not often discussed is the fact that Blankenship and Mukuba play the same position … essentially the Free Safety. CJGJ was much closer to being the Strong Safety, and Brown is definitely much more in that mold than Mukuba is. It is going to be very interesting to see how it shakes out. Fangio is plenty flexible enough to make two Free Safeties work, and given DeJean’s presence as the fifth DB in Fangio’s base D, not having a Strong Safety may not even be noticeable. Time will tell.

I agree that Maxen Hook bears watching.

You can't play Mukuba if you don't sign Mukuba

True, but enough 2nd rounders have signed recently that Mukuba should follow.

All but 7 2nd rd picks signed now ... it's just a matter of time. Rookie report date is July 22 so I imagine we'll be hearing sometime within the next 24-36 hrs that he is inked.

I certainly hope so, but it would look a lot nicer, if we weren't among the last signings

Jeffrey hasn't had time to get to the pawn shop yet.

There's also the starting CB spot opposite Mitchell, with Ringo and Jackson being the main competitors.

RG: Probably the one competition where it can literally be multiple players. Steen is the favorite, but who knows.

RB2 - I think that'll actually be Shipley, with Dillon coming in for certain situations.

I still think they need help at safety and depth on the edge. I wouldn't mind AS Jr either.

RB and TE depth are the only concerns on the other side. Howie did a good job.

Another RB...maybe. But how do you see a TE as a concern???

If Mukuba pans out they should be fine at S. I agree that they could use some depth at edge and signing that former Browns player who gets 3-5 sacks doesn't do it for me. I couldn't disagree more about RB and TE. They have Dillon, Shipley, and some interesting undrafted guys at RB. TE is full of depth with GC, Bryant, and Granson.

Apparently a stud starting TE and THREE proven NFL backup TE's isn't enough for him?

Good point about CB2. I was/am assuming that it will be Ringo but I suppose you are correct that he needs to earn it and win the job.

We probably agree there aren't many better options at RB right now. Howie has done a great job and I'm nitpicking to find things to worry about. If SB goes down do I love the idea of Dillon and Shipley? I don't hate it, but it isn't ideal. I guess they can use that swing guy as well. Again, way nitpicking. TE I don't hate either, but wouldn't mind Fant on a good deal. Granson and Bryant aren't bad. DG will go down at some point. Again, Howie did such a good job I'm talking about TE 2 and 3.

You are right about Mukuba. If he pans out they should be fine. They are probably alright at CB. I'd feel better if they grab one of Simmons or AS Jr unless they can find another edge and use the money there. Where that will come from I don't know.

As a whole they are pretty set, but it's fun thinking about other pieces they could add. I guess that's why we have an entire section dedicated to it.

Because DG always gets hurt. I'm also looking forward to talking about football and there aren't a lot of holes, so we have to talk about something.

All good points. I am probably being reactionary but Ringo's rough day has me concerned. Getting beat deep has been a concern for him as despite having the size and speed his hips and technique are a concern. If ASJ is healthy I would sign him regardless. I think he is fair too good of a player who is still young to be available on July 23rd. Coop on the outside with ASJ in the slot could be damn good.

I didn't read he had a bad day. I guess the one good thing about our WR starters is they will find out really fast if he has it or not. We agree I'd sign him regardless. I doubt he'd cost much.

At that point they would have versatility to move Coop wherever whenever

The report was he got beat deep by Terrace Marshall and by AJ Brown as well on a 20+ yard back shoulder fade. I think Coop is the real deal and could end up playing slot corner, outside corner, or S quite effectively and he will end up being wherever we need him most.

I kind of feel like this is Steen’s job to lose. I also think Shipley will be the KR for the Eagles so he will get opportunities. I also think the team will not run Barkley as much as they did last season to preserve him some. The other WRs don’t really matter much. Can they play special teams? If so they make the team. Seems like McCollum is a Fangio fav at least for now so he likely is the favorite until Mukuba learns the system. I agree that it’s Campbell”s job when he gets healthy, but baby Trotter has a huge opportunity here as well especially since Dean is in a contract year.

I don't think we should sleep on Mac McWilliams at slot. The team likes what they've seen of him so far. He's physical and might get a look outside too.

He's one to keep your eye on.
