Posted August 6Aug 6 What many had expected for some time became official on Tuesday:ESPN will acquire NFL Network and the linear rights to NFL Red Zone among other things, This does have to go through some regulatory hoops that could be onerous given Trump has a nearly 45 year vendetta against the NFL going back to 1981 when he attempted to buy the then-Baltimore Colts (with George Allen) for $50 Million, which at the time would have been a record for a pro sports franchise (he was rebuffed).
August 6Aug 6 Why can't we have nice things...ESPN is going to RUIN this...and charge US through the nose to have to combine it with ALL the other crap channels they have that I have NO interest in.WTF !!!

ESPN will only have the linear rights to Red Zone. The NFL will continue to produce and have the digital rights to Red Zone. What I do see happening is if the international schedule expands further like we are looking at, in exchange for the NFL agreeing not to air games opposite the first round of the college football playoff, for Europe we could see where we have games Saturday and Sunday morning here, with Saturday games kicking off at 8:30 or 9:00 AM ET (so they finish around the time the noon college football games on Saturday kick off) and Sunday at 9:30 AM ET as they have been for some time. As part of this, there will no longer be Monday night doubleheaders or two games overlapping, with those four games likely moving to NFL Network in standalone windows that could be the additional games in Europe.

I notice you didn't address the packages that ESPN will now have control over and what they charge and bundle. Maybe you have some infactuation with ESPN but they have sucked for the last 10 years at least.
August 7Aug 7 What could possibly go wrong? I could see the NFL killing the proverbial goose that laid the golden eggs with this deal. Imagine, having a large stake in a company that has its own betting sportsbook.https://about.espnbet.com/

August 12Aug 12 Author Actual link to the article noted in the previous post:If it's done right (six-second ads as you often now see anyone and only one ad in a very brief break in the action) then it might work out well.
August 18Aug 18 Imagine the now close to perfect Red Zone but with Stephen A Smith and Michael Irvin yelling at you for 7 hours.
