Or they wanted an extra body out there so AJ can continue to rest and be ready for the season. They take extra precautions during preseason this is what they have been doing since Nick became coach. Nothing new here

My read is it just makes us deeper at WR for a TE that we were going to most likely cut ...if anyone is to go down we'll have a deep room. Still think we're keeping

Dotson but if I were Wilson, Ainas Smith and Marshall who I think is now probably as good as gone I would be worried.

Howie is always in the business of adding talent ... he especially like to collect CBs and WRs. Even though drafted in 2022, I think he may actually have 2 years remaining on his rookie contract due to missing his rookie season with illness (leukemia). With Dotson in his final year (and highly unlikely to be retained ... too much $ going to the top 2), he could be our WR3 next year (and in the meantime offer depth). Besides, Bryant wasn't making the final 53 - so basically we only swapped a 5th (we had 5 x 5th rd picks) for a 6th (we had none).

I don't get the people who don't get the trade. We gave up someone who was probably not going to make the team and moved down like 30 picks super late in a draft we have a ton of assets in. It's really not that big of a deal.

Wouldn'tread much into it, testing to see if we can turn him into anything.

In July 2022 he was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia which after he was cleared, he still had to do treatments for 2023 and 2024. He had to fight back to get back on the field in 2023.

If you haven't seen this hit by him and a FL defender that had an INT and then got the ball back for us.

Not every trade means something for the top players at the position. Howie is always looking for talent, especially former high picks that didn't work out elsewhere, he's been collecting those for years to try them out.

my thoughts exactly, another WR could be moved for a CB, Dotson makes the most sense, as he had a good SB and still has value, especially since some of the other young guys are flashing

The more I think about this the more I love it. The fact that Metchie had to deal with cancer and a torn ACL so early in his career is crazy. It's no wonder he hasn't worked out yet. Kid is a real talent with tremendous route running ability. He is a perfect candidate to be a high level slot on this league. Add in the fact that he is close friends with Devonta and knows Hurts well and he should thrive here. Having just turned 24 and having all of the adversity behind him he is finally ready to show what he can do in this league.
