Weird trade. Not against it since they basically gave up a 7th, but still strange.

They obviously don’t trust McCord or dtr

Must mean they think McKee will miss some time to start the season. They can’t feel good with either McCord or DTR serving as QB2 for even a small amount of time.

I actually thought Sam Howell played well for Washington considering their oline was trash when he was there... I don't mind this trade

I am interested in seeing how this works out.

How does this impact McCord and DTR?

McCord to the PS and DTR to the CFL.

Is it a typo? I know the "C” isn’t close to the "Q” on the keyboard. Maybe it’s voice to text trade

This obviously means the team has determined, based on the preseason, that since Hurts got paid, that he’s done… this must be the start of the rebuild.

Kinda of surprising, this makes more sense if he had an extra year on his deal or something. Especially not waiting until cuts are finished as there will, I’m sure, be some QBs who’re serviceable as backups.

Better than taking Pickett back....

Hmmm. Are we flipping Tanner for a CB?

No - McKee has a finger injury and the Eagles didn't have another reliable back up on the roster.

UPDATE: It's a small fracture on the top of his thumb and considered minor.

Actually like this trade. I think it serves 2 purposes....1 is the McKee finger injury and having Howell is better than running McCord out there at any point. 2 is that next offseason, assuming Howie finds a way to keep Howell, it gives them some cushion for trading McKee for a decent draft pick.

He definitely lit us up in 2023 when he was there. Based on my limited time watching him, I always thought he could be a decent starter in the league.

Yeah they'll give McCord a season on the PS to see if he can learn. I wondered with Chipper as OC at the Raiders and what he managed to get DTR to do in college whether he might end up on their PS, but with them trading for Pickett it does look like DTR has run out of road.

This was my thought as soon as they announced McKee's thumb injury. The nature of the injury makes me think he's out like 4 or so weeks.... So McKee is out for the opener at least, then we'll see. Howell arrives as emergency backup QB in the meantime.
