Jim Murray passed away today. He was hired as GM in 1974 and held that position when the Eagles hired Dick Vermeil in 1976, and through to 1982 when Leonard Tose's daughter, Susan Fletcher, took over the job. While not a traditional GM who heavily influenced the roster, Murray's tenure saw a marked upswing in the Eagles fortunes, including 4 straight playoff appearances during the Vermeil era. Prior to that, the Eagles had probably their worst period of failures through most of the 60's well into the 70's.

Murray was one of the good guys who did a lot of charitable work. Lived a good long life and died at age 87. RIP Jim.
